Gilmore Cut

Gilmore was not at practice two days in a row last year....Patriots advanced him $5 Million of 2021's salary and lo and behold, he was at practice again, which lowered this year's salary to $12M or so. He wasn't liking that. Most of his Big Money contract was front loaded upon leaving Buffalo. Gilmore was set to be a free agent next year and at 31 was expected to walk as he wanted big money again.
He also suffered a quad injury last year and 'was still injured' maybe?, so the Pats weren't going to give him big $$ not knowing his health status. It seems contract negotiations stalled. Pats gained a 6th round pick, about $6 Million in cap space by trading him and landed him in a place of their choosing (<<<3 parts of Pats compensation).
Maybe the Pats putting him on PUP was to buy time to negotiate.....Gilmore had previously said he could go full speed if he had to....If he wasn't on PUP, he would have incurred Big $$ fines for holding out under the new rules. They were being nice, actually.
McCourty brothers are twins.
