just like the what hester did for the bears maybe ginn can do for the dolphins if u look at it miami and chicago have about the same level of talent just one key player give them that spark and that spark started a big super bowl fire maybe drafting ginn wasnt such a bad idea. ginn could give us that spark that hester gave to the bears those KR for TD does alot for a team as far as momentom and keeping the O off the grass for at least another drive. PR could really help quick points is always a good thing no matter how u see it.

anyone agree??????

Ive been saying this all offseason - the 2007 Miami Dolphins will have the same makeup in terms of Offense, Defense, and Special Teams as the 2006 Bears. However, theres one glaring difference - will have an accomplished veteran in Trent Green under center instead of an inexperience QB like Rex Grossman.

I went to UM and saw Hester play and have seen some of the ridiculous things he has done...When watching the Ginn videos online, i don't see the exact comparison some of you do. Once Hester passes the first wave he is gone...Ginn however still has some work to do once he passes the first wave. Hester is way more explosive and is faster. Thats why i don't see Ginn being the second coming of Hester.

Ginn is more of a long strider, of course he doesn't look as fast.

As far as comparing Hester and Ginn; Ginn can actually playa skilled position (WR). Hester has already failed as a cb as he is strictly a special teams player.

You keep proving the point that we drafted Ginn too high - Hester was picked 57th in the 2nd round and is a PR/KR.

Ginn was picked #9 and contrary to what a lot of folks on here wish to believe, he is a PR/KR.

Can Ginn add something to the team, I think so, but we will be paying an inordinate amount of money for it.

Very biased post. It is widely known that Ginn is faster than Hester. Not that Hester doesnt have speed, its just Ginn would have ran high 4.2s or very low 4.3s. Saying that Ginn has work to do after he gets past the first wave is rediculous. I honestly dont believe you watched Ginn, or at least not enough. Ginn is just as fast as hester when ginn was at 80% in the combine when he ran on his injured foot and ran a 4.38 40. I dont post much but the main reason I do is to stop posts like this..

Anthony Gonzalez was drafted in the first round at WR. Gonzalez went to the same school (OSU) as Ginn, and played the same position. Gonzalez was a more polished WR than Ginn, yet Ginn put up the superior numbers at WR.

2004
Ginn (freshman): 25 receptions, 359 yards and 2 touchdowns
Gonzalez (sophomore): 8 receptions, 179 yards and 2 touchdowns

2005
Ginn (sophomore): 51 receptions, 803 yards and 4 touchdowns
Gonzalez (junior): 28 receptions, 373 yards and 3 touchdowns

2006
Ginn (junior): 59 receptions, 781 yards and 9 touchdowns
Gonzalez (senior): 51 receptions, 734 yards and 8 touchdowns

Even without his big special teams potential, Ginn still would've been a 1st round pick as a WR.

There are other glaring differances like thier superior oline. this was grossman's first year as a fulltime starter, he should only get better and not sure Green at this point is an upgrade. Thier secondary is also superior to ours. I do somewhat agree with your analagy but our line will proably hold us back this year and should get better next year if we can develop the players that are going to be starting this season. hard to imagine an oline with 5 players playing in new positions for us and being good from the beginning.

He's our PR/KR for now, coaches will work with him to develop him as a WR, ever heard of Steve Smith? His job on his 1st year was to return kicks and punts, and he barely saw action as a WR

Here are his rookie season stats:
Rec 10
Yards 154
Td 0

Yeah, I'm not expecting much out of him as a WR until probably his 3rd or 4th year. The main reason being, he's only played the position 2-3 years.

My point exactly - Smith was drafted in the THIRD round - not #9 overall.

The 2001 Carolina Panthers Draft:

GInn will take up a very disproportionate amount of cap space for a special teamer. In three years when people think he'll be coming into his own as a WR - it'll be time for a new contract and we will have pissed away a bunch of money.
