Glad we didn't get Arrington last year

:shakeno: Just never got it going as a pro. Glad we didn't sign him for all that money he wanted.

LaVar Arrington, LB, (not JJ, RB) formerly of the New York Giants and Washington Redskins, has been injured pretty much since 2004. Last year he tore his Achilles tendon (like Takeo Spikes of the Bills did in 2005), and it appears he won't be ready to participate on the field until at least July -- and that doesn't mean he'll be all that good. Last year, Takeo really struggled for the Bills, and they weren't confident that he would be improved for 2007. Most players don't come back to play at their previous levels after Achilles tendon injuries.

The reason to retire is obviously health related. To think that things would not have been different here is the same as saying how we would have been so much better if we'd have gotten Brees instead of CPep...you just don't know for sure with any FA either coming off an injury or later in age like LA how it's going to end up...

The same can/will be said for Porter next year at this time, if he were to have a serious injury or get suspended for bad conduct or whatever... That's the risk you take with FA and a very valid reason for building your team primarily thru the draft...

He was a very good linebacker but it is a good thing Miami didn't give him all that money.

Las offseason I was really hoping to get Arrington cause Thomas/Arrington/Crowder would have been damn good. Not as good as Porter/Thomas/3rd year Crowder but still decent. Anyway I went to bed one night hoping to hear the next morning we signed Arrington cause he was rumored to be near signing, woke up the next morning and who did we get? Daunte Culpepper.

.......... and there may not be any either..........

In retrospect its always easy to speak on what we should have did or it was a good idea not to sign after the fact. So if the Porter thing does not work out we will hear the same from other fans.

.......and they'll admire the signing if it does work out.

There may be some teams saying the same about Porter after this year.

Porter doesn't have the injury problems that Lavar had. Hopefully he continues being healthy. Your statement could be said about any Free Agent ever signed.

I wasn't a fan of the Lavar signing because of the injury history and the amount of money involved . . . I am MUCH more a fan of the Porter signing.
