So more I think about Dorsey as our pick I don't really understand why he would be someone who doesn't fit our system. If we don't make him the NT but pick him as the DE in the 3-4. Now hear me out on this, If the NT is supposed to take up two players, center and a guard, why would it be bad to have such a big disruptive guy playing next to the NT? To me Dorsey's ability to penetrate will destroy plays from the DE spot. Then teams need to double team him and the NT. Allowing our LBs to shoot gaps and make more plays in the backfield. He can still beat double teams and he can really control one blocker if that's all that is put on him. I think his value at the DE is huge. In a 3-4 the DE is supposed to get between 3-7 sacks, I think he can get 7 easy from watching him play and still control the running game. He is a mismatch dream in the mold of Richard Seymour. I think he is more disruptive and powerful than Chris Long and would make a great player for this team to improve our D line.

Just think Solai has had an extra year to improve strenth, conditioning and his technique. We all knew he was a raw talent and learnign to play 3-4 NT is not one of the easier positons in the NFL. Now place Dorsey next to him with Holliday or Rod Wright o the other side and we have some big boys who demand attention and who can disrupt plays behind the line. They each will demand double teams on some plays and leaving one blocker on any of them will be dangerous.

Basically Dorsey to me, if we stay at the number one spot, is a solid pick and would instantly change our dline for the good.

Dorsey a DE? Now i've heard everything. If you're going to do that, why not just get Chris Long to do the same thing? He's faster, has a better motor, and the athleticism to play other positions (hybrid LB) at the same time.

I agree Chris Long he is a better fit for a 3-4. But if Dorsey puts up big numbers in the combine its gonna be a tuff choice....:winkwink:

Again not as a 4-3 DE but a 3-4 De. heard everything. have you watched the Pats play.
There two DE's in the 3-4 are Seymour and Warren. NE Warren 6'5" 300 & Seymour 6'6" 310 or how about SD DE's SD - Castillo 6'3" 295 & Olshansky 6'6" 309.

So yeah at DE. So I guess you've heard everything

if anyone knows what our system is gonna be, let us know your source

Wow, okay don't have source.

So let me rephrase, If we run a 3-4 Dorsey would fit as a good DE in it.
IF we run a 4-3 he will be a good fit at DT.

Dorsey is to short to play a 3-4 DE... typical 3-4 DE are 6'5"+ 275-300lbs.

Dorsey is 6'2" 315ish. Like mentioned before if you want to draft a 3-4 DE then Long should be the choice, but we would draft Dorsey as a NT/DT as we should.

I understand that 6'5" and up is probably better. But Long is 282 and 6'4" I feel that if we were running a 3-4, the DE that has 30lbs would be better suited to take on and maintain leverage against two blockers would be better for Dorsey at 6'2" and 315ish. Not saying Long can't play it as well but the bigger DEs of other teams seem to have better success. If the height is really a problem than I would agree with you

who cares about height???

The NT of the NE Pats is the same size and wieght as Dorsey and the Pats play a 3-4 too...And he is one of the top NT/also plays DE in the league,he went to school at Da U(Miami).....Also,NFL DraftCountDown.com has Dorsey as the best DT prospect to come out in recent years...i think if we go Def.,than Dorsey should be the pick

here we go again

if you are gonna pick a guy #1, why try to make him something he ain't? that is insanity

let's hope that Tony isn't just flapping his gums, cuz he is dead on we should fit the system to the players

he says this but we still can't stop making Dorsey a DE or a NT.

draft him, play the 4-3 and watch him F*^& up other teams

not only is it hard to find NT's, LB's are getting smaller and quicker

The bigger problem with Dorsey is not if he fits our system or not but that he doesnt give 100% effort on every play. I watched LSU just about every week this year and every week I came away wondering what the "BFD" was about Dorsey.

He consistantly got beat off the ball by his fellow DL. He way to frequently was in an upright position when the ball got snapped... to put it frankly I thought the guy was out of shape and lazy. BUT then again that is just my opinion....

I would be very disappointed if Dorsey turns out to be the first pick of the draft (by us)

I highly doubt that dorsey is on just about everybodies top five on there bigboard because he is lazy and out of shape.

I realize your entitled to your opinion but I remember dorsey putting on the beating more often than I remember him taking one.

A. You know he was injured most of the year this year right?
B. Every scout talks about how much fire he plays with
C. When he was healthy he OBLITERATED the other team's offensive line

Just about every major publication says he is one of the best tackles to come out in years, plus he won every major award that a def-lineman can win and still there are these opinionated post that make no sense what so ever. I am a big fan of Chris Long but he doesnt have rare talent which Dorsey have, I wish you guys could be more objective!
