Is it better to hire a GM or HC first? Who's more important especially in our situation with big Mike.
Obviously everyone knows we have missed the mark for over a decade or decades. I don't pretend to know but what's our problem? Many teams have been successful for years or over the past decades. Many changes but they can always adapt. Losing coordinators and position coaches year in and year out. Possibly even a GM or HC but they are still competetive. Was it the GM or HC or even coordinators?
Look at the Panthers and I know has not always been a team on the top (sorry live in NC and born in FL.) Can't remember if was last year or the year before Riveria said he just realized you cant win games scoring 3 points. Now the Panthers balling and also go for it on 4th down and yes with a great defense but is it Riveria or Gettleman? Or is it Shula and McDermott? Is it union during the game or does the HC actually do what he wants?
Who is responsible for what or in charge. I know every teams GM and HC have more power than the next. We always seem to keep one and can the other leaving the other to play with someone else's mess and starting in the hole and eventually fired also. I understand why a GM or HC would want power over the roster but who is really running the show on game day? Do good HC really run the show or let their coordinators do their job.
Sorry so long and lots of questions but you also have the clean house situation. Who cleans house? Everyone hating or loving the HC search...does it mean anything yet? Or could even Campbell do it with the best coordinators? Or does it matter because big Mike is bigger than a GM or HC and we have neither and a different structure than winning franchises?
