Didn't want Godchaux back at any price tbh. He was always Earl Mitchell 2.0 to me. 8 million per year? Wow. Best of luck with that one NE.
He really wasn't the scheme fit for our defense with Flo. Much more of your traditional 4-3 DT. You look at the drafting of Wilkins and davis and see their roles and see why we let him go.
That was one thing that always bugged me about Earl Mitchell: that he was referred to as a nice guy. Not that I’m saying that you have to be a raving lunatic to be a good player, but the adjective(s) I seemingly always heard about him was nice. Never “disruptive (in a good way)”, “immovable”, “difficult to account for”. He was good, but certainly no Tim Bowens.
You are worth whatever your employer is willing to pay you. Perhaps the Patriots paid him more than the Dolphins were willing to pay him but obviously the Patriots think he is worth it.
This is great news. The Pats are “that” kind of team now and we no longer are.
