Can't find a link to it but on my drive to work this morning Adam Schefter on ESPN radio Golic and Wingo show talking about Jarvis Landry and the timing of the franchise tag.

Talking about teams DO NOT 1st day tag players without the intent of making a move. Related the tag timing to that of Matt Cassel prior to the trade to the Chiefs.

Mentioned Ezekiel Ansha getting tagged by the Lions prior to combine meetings to show the Lions are serious in retaining Ansah and Leveon Bell won't be tagged until the last possible moment.

Typically teams that are working on long term deals will just tag players at the last second possible in order to 'extend' deal talks.

More and more it seems as if Landy day with the Fins are numbered.

I know we have the 'Don't Over Pay' for Landy crowd on the board but I'll be dammed another Pro Bowl player drafted by the Fins will walk due to money talks.

I agree we made an offer I think the problem is the way we handled the offer as it should have been done a year earlier and it would have been more friendly. You wait till the last minute these guys are going to get paid, we do everything dysfunctionally

I agree with waiting in his case. They had some real concerns and needed to be sure on him. This was the best for both parties. I just wish we would have traded him a year sooner IMHO.

Yeah, I kinda have that gut feelings it's more about the respect factor.

Landy felt disrespected last year and I'm sure that made him drive up his price or hold to that number he believed he was worth, instead of taking that hometown discount.

They have been trying to trade Landry for a year now. The fact they are having so much trouble makes me wonder what kind of market really exists and whether anyone will pay over $14 million per

Someone mentioned on twitter yesterday Lombardi saying that Landry wants to be the highest paid WR in the league.

I'm not entirely sure if I believe that, but if he already turned down 5 for 66 and they're THAT far apart, it wouldn't surprise me.

I love Landry, but I'm not paying him more money than AB, Hopkins or Julio. Would rather spend 16 mil on a guard and a pass rusher.

But, but home grown....

we offered the guy 13 million per and he declined.....bye bye
I read that somewhere this morning, has it been confirmed? If true, this is a more than fair offer for landry. I would be surprised if he balked at this offer.

I wonder where Lombardi heard that. That's crazy talk. Even Landry or his agent Bilbo Baggins can't be that delusional.
