This morning on Mike and Mike, they were talking about some of the games that have been announced. While they were talking about the Dolphins-Steelers opener Golich rather nonchalantly stated that Culpepper would not be ready for the opener (Greenberg chuckled/agreed). They stated this like it was a foregone conclusion. I know they are only stating their opinions, but were so matter-of-fact about it, it struck me as a little odd.

I think he'll be ready to start the season, but I don't think Saban is going to start him right away. Maybe by week 2-3, he'll pull the trigger....

Who know's though, if he looks good in mini /training camp, Saban may let him loose on opening day....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Golich is just living up to his name, he knows about as much as you and I about this situation. Remember Golich's Golden Goofs? Nuff Said.

The truth is that no one knows. Not even Culpepper. The guy destroyed his knee and it's still 5-6 months of rehab away. Doctors could make some predictions, but there's no telling how his rehab will go. Anything coming from some writer or personality is just fluff at this point.

Mike Golic? Is that the guy who looks like Shrek with hair? Why would anybody possibly care what he has to say? I pity the people who listen to that radio show, or worse, watch it on TV.

the technology we have today....i dunno i think he'll be ready but here again its just my opinon...just like gholic has 1 too....

Golic is a dope and the other one is a jets fan so what does that tell ya?? They dont know crap about Culpepper, if he is ready he will play. If he's not ready, we dont know who is going to play.

Bottom line is, they don't know any more about this than you or I at this point. No one can make an accurate prediction about this until likely mid August. To speculate either way right now is fruitless.

If you really think about it Golic's statement makes sense.
We all would love to see him start. But the point to me is that he could be Physically ready to play, at best, by Sept 7th. but you should understand that it takes time to get in "realtime " playing mode and DC won't have much time at full health to prepare that quickly IMO. He most likely will miss all the preseason games and just will not have enough time to be fully prepared to start by the first game.
We should use caution and not rush him into a situation that could be a total disaster, screwing us up for years if calculated improperly.
We all need to have patients and let this guy Fully heal and be completely prepared to play QB.

Well, That would suck because as much as I like the idea of playing the first game of the season. If Culpepper not ready we will basically have no QB and I DO NOT like the idea of going into Pitt (my second favorite team) without an established QB. I don't think that it's a game that we can win.

While I agree, he will be able to go full speed in practice as long as he's not getting hit. I dont think the few snaps that QB's like Manning, Brady, Vick make that much of a difference come starting day. If Pepper is healthy and able to play we will see him opening day. You are right that we should not rush him though if he's not healthy enough to play.
