Cool article with some good insight..

Colledge, put simply, is a proven commodity. He’s an established starter and a durable one at that. He has started 124 of his 128 NFL games and has yet to miss a game since being a second-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2006.

Taking it even further, Colledge also didn’t miss a start during his four years at Boise State.

“I think it’s a lot of luck, a lot of hard work, and then you’ve got to be able to play when you’re not 100 percent,” Colledge said after practice Saturday. “There’s a lot of guys that find their way in the training room, find their way off the field. I’ve always been a guy who’s able to not stay in the training room too long. That’s helped me stay on the field. It’s also a lot of pride. I feel like I’m getting paid to be out here. I feel like the players are relying on me, coaches rely on me. I’ve always wanted to be one of those guys where coaches can say, all right, Daryn is there, let’s worry about some other spot.”

I think he's the first ex Packer who Joe was comfortable in getting. Normally a coach will try to get some of "his players" that he's familiar with to join him. Joe assiduously avoided this.

You are right.

Colledge is needed in a big way to at least be adequate.

Proven .... and He should be playing rg. I dont like the two rookie together

i think they are going to be a great combination. already close friends from tennessee, and i believe they've played together on the line for THREE years already. that's some chemistry right there.

Great lol but I suspect that wont help against mario williams

I think the starting left guard provided he can show in pads strength on contact and can handle power should be billy turner if he's not gonna play a starting right tackle...cause I can tell ya this oline needs that level move athlete in it...turner is a guy that can overcome angles in a phone booth and a high level move athlete and foot athlete it's just whether or not he has the strength and the pop on contact and can play with leverage and get lower on the inside that matters...he may prove a year away but that kids gifted

IMO ideal scenario Thomas and turner win the guard jobs but I could see philbin sticking with what he's familiar with and trust more from prior with colledge winning one of the slots...

I'd personally rather have Thomas at right guard and the better 2nd level move athlete and foot athlete period turner man the left...provided Thomas also doesn't make it a pillow fight in pads...add a move pivot like pouncey in the middle and while there'd be some growing pains we'd finally have scheme fits in the interior...

And of course there's Shelley smith who we know will provide pop and drive on contact...pads should not be a problem there...oversetting may be...

Sam brenner is a plus move athlete I need to see strength gains in pads also...took too much of the contact last year

Larsen can anchor and a the end of the day that could play in here but he limits how much stuff you can do movement wise cause the kid just flat won't get there...athletically that is below average power or zone scheme...he's a Bull though...

Great to hear those words from him. It seems like we have quite a few O-linemen to plug in here and there. It's a good problem to have. I have more faith in our current OL coach to get this problem fixed than I did Turner.

I have nothing to add here other than that may be the best use of "assiduously" I've ever seen. Bravo.

You know you need coffee when you read "new Right Guard" and the first thing that pops into your head is deodorant...
