Good Brandon Doughty Article

I like the guy a lot. He seems like he could become a decent career back up, considering he seems like he's somewhat of a game manager and can find completions and not turn the ball over. Isn't that the best we could hope for as a back up?:idk:

you obviously never saw him play before. he is a play maker, not a game manager.

I think it might be a little early to categorize him either way. Once he actually, you know, plays some games in the NFL we'll have a better idea but labeling him based on a college career at a small school without the benefit of an NFL level coaching staff is a reach at this point. By the way, EKU > WKU. Go Colonels!

Doughty is a play maker, something we've been lacking at the QB position for a long time now.

No, he's a game manager. Period. If you think he's a playmaker, than I can't imagine what a guy like Andrew Luck is in your eyes.

You make Donald Trump look good...

I saw Doughty play on TV in college in real time. Not videos. His offensive system is what created all the open looks he got. His arm is below average. I like him for where we got him and am looking forward to seeing him play. He's got smarts and accuracy. Regardless of whether the offense created completions for him, he still executed. Gase is another guy who can get completions for his quarterback. I hope he makes the 53. I like that we drafted a qb and hope we keep doing it. You get a good prospect and/or create an asset that can be flipped to get good draft picks back.

Joe Montana and Bob Griese's arms were special either....but they made plays and won titles.

Not saying Doughty will....but you never know.

He has Chad Pennington written all over him. That's who Gase drafted and you can tell he loves the kid when u hear him talk about him. If TH does not take the next step there will be a QB competition in Miami next year.

There's another unconventional QB I can think of: Brett Favre. The part about Doughty going through his progressions wrong but somehow making a completion, Favre used to do that several times a game. It was like he was improvising on nearly play. I'd take that kind of QB over Tanny in a heartbeat.

Doughty is smart, accurate and makes things happen on the field. I can't tell the future but based on what I've seen of him in complete games throughout his college career I think he'll at least be an excellent backup qb in the league for many years. I would have taken him over Paxton Lynch and most any other qb that was drafted ahead of him.

He doesn't have a cannon arm but it's not weak either and his deep ball is EXCELLENT as is his all-around accuracy. He was also coached in college by a former NFL qb in Jeff Brohm so that's another positive. I think he's in for a long career in Miami unless someone else steals him away.
