I think we need to say this:

One thing is to have a GOOD DRAFT and one very different thing is to have an EXCITING DRAFT...

Take Texans Last Draft for example....they had a VERY GOOD DRAFT last year (Mario Williams, DeMeco Ryans and W. Lundy on first 3 rounds)... but at same time they have a VERY FRUSTRATING DRAFT FOR FANS because they let pass REGGIE BUSH AND VINCE YOUNG for a "just good" Mario Williams.

Its the same for me....

I will be VERY HAPPY if we end next draft with BRADY QUINN on Aqua, i dont care if we give away our 2nd or 3rd or whatever it takes... u can bet i will be very excited if we can get Brady Quinn on next draft.....AND I KNOW THAT MAYBE IS NOT THE BEST FOR MY DOLPHINS....but is exciting.

The only other way i can be excited with our draft (without Quinn) is if we can get a bunch (and i mean a bunch) of GOOD NAMES... lets say if we can end with 4 of the next 10 players: Levi Brown, A. Okoye, Ted Ginn Jr, Drew Stanton, Kevin Kolb, Anthony Gonzalez, D. Bowe, R. Khalil, J. Staley, T. Crowder.

Dont get me wrong, i want the best for my dolphins, but for know if one draft was good or not we will need to wait at least 3 years and that is a lot of time.... in other hand, if Phins end the draft with Quinn or with a bunch of nice offensive players on draft... we will be very HAPPY and very EXCITED for the next months.....

PLEASE GIVE US QUINN TO DREAM.
 
Just because Levi Brown jerseys won't sell out doesn't mean he won't help us win games. Going for the sexy picks have really hurt teams in the past.

I've said this before and will continue, but what is important for us in this draft is for there to be 3-5 players that impact the team this year (not counting QB). For this reason, I'd rather not give up day one picks even for Quinn. That being said, I'd be happy either way if we get him.

But if we come away from day one with a QB, an OL (G, T, or C), a DB, and whoever we get in the first would be gravy (be that Brown, Landry, Branch, Akoye, Carriker, Hall, even Peterson).

IMHO, the best scenario for us, assuming that Quinn and Russell are gone by #3, would be to trade down to 13-16, still get say Staley or Ginn and pick up at least one more day one pick and an additional day two pick. But that might be getting greedy.

The bottom line is that the overall draft has to make an impact on the team this coming year. That hasn't happened here since JJ's first draft.
 
It takes many years to judge whether a draft is good or bad....the 1983 Draft with Elway, Marino and a bunch of other QB's and big names was one of the best ever. You can't tell whether last year's draft was good at this point...give it maybe 10 years.
 
The texans had a very good draft, but everybody said short term taking Mario Williams (a guy who is one of the most talented DEs to enter the draft in awhile, but is still very raw) would look bad. The fact that Williams had only 4.5 sacks and Bush,Young,Leinart, and Ferguson all had pretty good years. To make it look worse, Mark Anderson and Elvis Dumerville (day 2 picks that didn't start) got more sacks that Mario. But the Texans did get 2 future pro bowlers on defense.

In my view, the ideal situation would be to have 3 of our 4 day 1 picks (pending a trade and if not, assuming 1 pick is a QB) to contribute in some fashion right away, and maybe even our 4th round pick.

If you look at teams that have turned their luck around, they've gotten multiple draft picks to contribute right away.

Cincy in 2003- Palmer sat the year, but Eric Steinbach and Kelly Washington had immediate impacts

Pats in 2003 (after missing the 02 playoffs)-Ty Warren,Bethel Johnson,Eugene Wilson,Asante Samuel, and Tully Banta-Caine

Let's look at the Chargers rise to the top...
2004(after going 4-12)- Rivers sat, but got immediate help from Igor Olshansky,Nate Kaeding,Shaun Phillips,Michael Turner, and Nick Hardwick

2005-Got Shawn Merriman, Louis Castillo,Darren Sproles, and Vincent Jackson

2006-Marcus McNeil

Hell look at us Nick Sabans first year here, we got 3 rookie starters with our first 4 picks (Ronnie,Channing,and Daniels), another guy that played a lot of time and will start this year (Roth), a player with a lot of potential and made a huge impact when he played (Manny, though he was from the supplemental draft), and looks like Alabi will start this year as well. So from the 2005 draft we could have has many as 5 guys starting next year, and Manny will get a lot of time as well.

1) Mediocre NFL arm
2) Is not a threat running outside the pocket

Miami WILL NOT pick BQ even if he is there at #9. Too much "bust factor" with BQ for team with so many needs.

wow. if your so positive, and bold letters i assume denote that, lets put a really number on that. I will bet whatever you wish to put down, that if BQ is there at 9 the dolphins will defently take him. please PM to cement the deal.
 
As long as this draft is not as boring as last years Miami draft I'll be glad. If Brady Quinn is selected and I can get a Brady Quinn jersey I'll be ecstatic.

He has a pro arm, stronger than Leinart, a little under Cutler, and I'm not even going to mention Young's arm as it is pretty difficult to characterize.

He had one of the best combines ever for a quarterback considered to be a pocket passer. He blew Jamarcus Russell out of the water.

I wouldn't categorize his arm as mediocre by any means. I from a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the best, I would rank it somewhere around the 8 range. He has enough strength to put it between defenders, but loses a hint on the deeper routes. But think about it, Marino could throw a 30 yarder on a frozen rope but did not really have a strong enough windup to get it much past 65+ yards. But how many times in a game will a QB have to make that 65 yard pass??? Not many, if at all......
