Not sure if this has been posted already. I'm almost sure it has been. Sorry if it has but i was reading some stuff about senior bowl week and I am loving that the FO and Sparano are spending time together. I can't wait for the rest of the off-season and draft. I haven't been so excited for an off-season or draft in my life. Well mainly in part that i didn't start paying attention to football for real until 2002 (I was age 9) and the Dolphins haven't been impressive ever in my lifetime. I am glad to see the right guys in the FO. Here's a link. Again, sorry if this has already been posted. http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/news/top_story.asp?contentID=6327

I think I'm gonna curb the enthusiasm for now cause I think next year we take a step back. Not because of poor coaching or lack of upgrades to key positions. I just think we're still a year away, plus we will have the toughest schedule I can remember us playing for a very very long time. I, like you, love where we're headed and the the coaching staff and FO. I just don't think we're quite there yet.

By a step back I assume you mean in wins and losses? Because we will not take a step back in talent, effort and performance.

I am not so sure that we won't win 11 games next year. We have a tougher schedule but we also have the off season to add on to what we have. Look at how far they went in one year. No reason to think that they can't make a simlar amount of progress.

Yes, I mean wins. I think we not only win less, but probably won't make the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I believe in this team, I just think the talent level needs more improving then we can do in two seasons. However I was wrong about how far we would go in 08 and I can see being wrong about 09.

yea. i agree as well. our tougher schedule will result in less wins. but there is no way this FO and coaches and players will take a step back in effort or rebuilding this team.

I tend to disagree for 1 reason... Pretty much a whole new team last year, starting QB had hardly anytime to really build any chemistry with anybody on the team. We are a young team, and I think with the some key free agent moves, and get a couple of guys re-signed I think this team can be better than it was last year. Remember, schedules can be decieving a year away. There are going to be teams that we think right now might be strong but come next season it may be a little different.

And the weakest schedule we've had probably ever. How many teams did we face that were 500 or worse?

i agree with you.. sorry feelthepain.. u might be right, but i dont think that will happen.. if this FO can take a 1-15 team to 11-5 then i think they can manage a harder schedule the 2nd year:beer1:

Some of those weaker teams were, in fact, weak. But some were at .500 or worse BECAUSE OF US. DENVER, BUFFALO, and SD, for example. I don't seee this team as a team that won't contend in 2009, if PARCELLS & CO. do as well in the 2009 F/A and Draft as they did this year, and the team does a little better health-wise.

If our schedule was so weak this year, why did most people on this board predict us to win no more the 4 games? I am not one to look at a schedule and say it's a hard /weak schedule because we don't know what will happen to the teams we play ex; injuries, trades etc. Just like last year we looked at the NE/SD/DEN/and NY to be losses and we won. Dolphins are not the Browns, this FO won't let that happen, Don't expect the worst, you think if those players would have walked around that locker room expecting to lose they would have won all those games? These players expect to win now, it's a whole new attitude!! So my opinion is those teams that have to play us need to watch out, you can't look at the MIAMI DOLPHINS on the schedule and say that's a win anymore!!!

Obviously because we were coming off a 1-15 season.

That's my point no one knows really how hard a schedule is. Until i see the end product of all the teams we play. We are all the same anyone can have a bad season. Everyone record for the 2010 season is 0-0. I bet not one of the talking heads picked Arizona to be in SB at the beginning of the season!!!

I know this may be a bit pessimistic, but I have a feeling that as far as wins/losses we take a step back the next two years. Next year we just plain have a killer schedule, and I do not see us getting to 11 wins.
The year after, I can see us handing the reigns over to Henne. While I know, a lot of people want that now. He will still essentially be a rookie QB at the time. Rookies make mistakes that cost games sometimes.
I'm not saying that we will not get more talented/better, or that we will not be in the playoffs or even advance in the playoffs but as far as pure wins I don't think we hit 11 regular season wins again in the next two years.

This post is not dogging any player, or the team or FO, it is just what I see in the future. I think we will be building towards being a true contender, and will be looked at as a very good team over these next 2 years, but I just don't see 11 wins.

And yes, I hope to eat crow.

I think that the upcoming schedule may be pretty bad, but you never really know.

Who knew some of the teams on our schedule would be as bad as they were this year? Denver, SD, etc.

I'll wait and see how things play out. On paper, yeah, it does look pretty bad, but things can change.

I'm not sure I follow that logic. I'll speak for the general fan base in this post to give you an idea of how I see the way fans look at the situation of predicting the outcome of the season based on the toughness or weakness of a shcedule.

Last year going in we knew who we had to play on our shcedule, we knew what the 07 records were of the teams on our schedule and a few of the teams on our 08 schedule uder perfromed...grossly! That alone changes things and it's an unpredictable factor. Nevertheless, the general feeling was we couldn't fix enough of the problems we had in just one off season of work, not to mention the fact that teams coming off a season like 1-15 aren't going to win 11 games regardless of their schedule weakness or strength, they just don't, normally.

So as fans we consider all this and come to a logical conclusion that we would probably only win 4 to 6 games in 08 even with that soft schedule because of the issues we had in 07. Well we had a better year than expected in 08, that's what they call the "acception" not the "Rule".

Watching this sport long enough you'll see tendencies and you'll see teams that exceed tendencies. It's not full proof, but you can forcast a season if you use logic and leave the homer side of the equation out. Most of the time you can predict within 2 or 3 games one way or the other what your team will do. I think that is the general idea behind most football fans logic when predicting their teams fate in a given season.
