There are a "couple" posts about the downside of Ronnie, so I thought I would change pace a bit and point out some positives:

-He appears to be a smart & good blocker. He picks up blitzes really well, and that stuff doesn't show up in the box score. While our line is nothing spectacular, Gus does have at least some time to throw, and part of that is due to Ronnie picking up blitzes. And the good news is he'll only get better at this.

-He does have some power once he gets moving. While he is still dancing around and getting used to the speed of the NFL, Ronnie does seem to be a determined runner once he gets started. He seems to have some power, and he has a move or two as well (see the spin last week vs. Denver - awesome!). Once he gets a hole or two, he may actually break one like Cadillac. If you notice, Cadillac's long runs are started w/ gaping holes. I haven't seen anything like that for Ronnie just yet.

-He hasn't fumbled (regular season). The value of this cannot be understated.

-He made an amazing third-down catch last week. There will be more for sure!

-He doesn't appear to have an attitude, and is willing to learn.

-He'll be learning from one of the best in about three weeks.

So let's chill on Ronnie for a while. While it's OK to say he's not at his best yet, and we all expected better at this point, to call him a bust now is just idiotic. In two years if he's not any better, sure. But won't you feel stupid if you call him a bust today, and he's rushing for 1,500 yards in two years?

He has power/speed/enough moves to make people miss. The problem is that he's getting hit in the backfield nearly half the time he gets the ball, period. He is really hesitant though on his running and it needs to get cleared up fast.

You get paid 20 million you better do it, Ricky always deliverd Tampa got a Cadillac we got a chevy.
I can't believe you could say anything about Mr. brown.

he is not getting the job done, with Ricky we would have won.

Ricky didn't deliver his first season in the NFL

yeah i just watched some of the runs and he had a few where he shook defenders out their shoes, haha... hes just gotta get to the LOS before he starts putting on moves, when he sees the hole not there, he dances to find another but you cant do that in the NFL, hit the line then see if you can find another crease, that will eliminate all the negative gain carries

:shakeno: ignorant statement. Ricky did not always "deliver". Do you even watch football. Ricky was the biggest underachiever his first 2 years in New Orleans, labeled a bust by many NO fans. Then all of a sudden, he's a top 3 back in the NFL. I am starting to be ashamed to be a dolphins fan after reading all these posts. :shakeno:

:deadhorse

Real fans know and can see this. The rest will never understand at the moment. I hope he flips off everyone @ Dolphins Stadium when he scores his first TD.

The Ronnie bashers never respond to this. Go dig up Ricky's stats in his first 2 games?

I agree that he has shown some really good things. His blocking is awesome, and he has shown some quick moves and instincts at times. I think his main problem is just getting the ball and not being real sure what to do if the initial hole isn't there, which is a real problem with this line, because the hole his hardly EVER there. So I think there's an interaction between Ronnie's inexperience/hesitancy and the line's ineptitude.

He's another AJ only Saban gave up the second pick for this bum.
I watched the Bills game and they couldn't stop Cadillac their DL is way better than the Jets.
We'll have a running game when Ricky comes back Ronnie will play fullback

I didn't say (and ready carefully) that he was above criticism. I'm not happy w/ his play either. I'm just saying give it time. I've seen enough good, plus I know that not every great back is good out of the box. There are plenty who are, but there are a bunch who take a year or two to get going.

I just think he's got enough to be a great back once he gets used to the speed of the game, and the talent in the NFL.

I still believe we need to set him up for some screens out in the flat. That will offset our below average OL play and allow him to make plays in the open field, break tackles, etc. I feel he could gain a tremendous amount of confidence if given some set screens. I thought for sure they would try this more versus the Jets but they didn't. All they did was that messed up shuffle pass he didn't have a chance on.

Tell me why is it that Cadillac is getting the job done and Ronnie isn't.
