Dolphin Apologist - I'm really sorry!!
There are a "couple" posts about the downside of Ronnie, so I thought I would change pace a bit and point out some positives:
-He appears to be a smart & good blocker. He picks up blitzes really well, and that stuff doesn't show up in the box score. While our line is nothing spectacular, Gus does have at least some time to throw, and part of that is due to Ronnie picking up blitzes. And the good news is he'll only get better at this.
-He does have some power once he gets moving. While he is still dancing around and getting used to the speed of the NFL, Ronnie does seem to be a determined runner once he gets started. He seems to have some power, and he has a move or two as well (see the spin last week vs. Denver - awesome!). Once he gets a hole or two, he may actually break one like Cadillac. If you notice, Cadillac's long runs are started w/ gaping holes. I haven't seen anything like that for Ronnie just yet.
-He hasn't fumbled (regular season). The value of this cannot be understated.
-He made an amazing third-down catch last week. There will be more for sure!
-He doesn't appear to have an attitude, and is willing to learn.
-He'll be learning from one of the best in about three weeks.
So let's chill on Ronnie for a while. While it's OK to say he's not at his best yet, and we all expected better at this point, to call him a bust now is just idiotic. In two years if he's not any better, sure. But won't you feel stupid if you call him a bust today, and he's rushing for 1,500 yards in two years?
