Here is a story on ESPN Insider about the coaches in the AFC and their grades on this past season. What do you guys think?

• Nick Saban, Dolphins
After a shaky start in which Saban's team committed 51 penalties in the first five games, and saw the first-year coach guilty of some questionable play calls, the team turned things around. Rather than falling apart down the stretch, as they had in recent seasons, the Dolphins posted the first perfect December in franchise history. The players bought into Saban's system, and that momentum should carry over into next season. Saban's stubbornness in not getting QB Gus Frerotte more work in the preseason slowed the progress of the offense. However, Saban effectively incorporated Ricky Williams back into the team, got good production out of several rookies, turned WR Chris Chambers into a Pro Bowler, and his hires of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and O-line coach Hudson Houck appear to be master strokes.
Grade: B-plus

for those who don't and would like to see the other coaching grades of the AFC east or whatever let me know.

I Personally think Saban deserves an A for what he did. B+ isn't too far off. I like what they have to say though. Its one of few times I've heard ESPN give the Fins any kind of props.

Oh, by the way... Saban did better then any of the other Rookie Head Coaches. I haven't tallied up the grades but I'd be sure to see him in the top 10 if I estimate correctly.

Nice to see the recognition for the rookies that played this year. The media gets so infatuated with certain picks that they often overlook other good draft picks especially from the later rounds. So its good to see that someone realizes we had solid CB play from a 4th rounder, a new starting LB from the 3rd round and a rotating DE from the 2nd round. Not to mention Ronnie Brown, all he did was rack up over 1100 total yards and 5 tds.

Hiring Hudson Huock, a master stroke indeed... Unreal what he managed to do with our Big Dawgs... A++

:)

We did not have our first perfect December in franchise history. We went undefeated in 1985. The guy needs to do his homework if he is going to be a sports writer. I do agree with his assessment. I thought Nick would be considered C.O.Y, but there was not mention.

B plus? Huh? Rookie coach, 4-12 team, new staff, 4 returning players on defense, and a 6 game winning streak to get a winning record and receives JUST a B plus!? Wow. So a rookie coach under those circustances must get into the playoffs to get an A?!?

yeah Hudson Houch was a huge signing. he has definetely helped out our o-line play. Can't wait to see how it looks with 1 or 2 other good players picked up for the line.

How could this be The Dolphins' 'first undefeated december in franchise history' when they went undefeated for the season....?

I thought we had a perfect December somewhere in the early 70's...ring any bells?

Not to mention 1972. I think we did pretty well in December that year.

I think it is about right, he did a great job but there were times I know I was scratching my head, especially his training camp rotation of QBs, though I am sure there was a method to his madness. Next year hopefully he will deserve an A for getting us to the playoffs and 2007/8 and A+ when we win the whole damn thing!@

For those whom don't have ESPN Insider...

AFC East
Bill Belichick- A
Nick Saban- B+
Herm Edwards- D
Mike Mularkey- D-

Also, a few ones I don't really understand.

Brian Billick- C+?? Every was expecting this team to win the AFC North and possibilities of reaching the AFC Championship or Super Bowl. I know Billick isn't the entire reason for why they were terrible for most of the year, but except for a few games... there offense has been terrible and he's supposdely the "Offensive genius"

Also... Jack Del Rio. Let me be the first to tell you, I do think that Jacksonville has had one of the easiest schedules, especially in the second half of the season but they took advantage of it... only losing to Indy TWICE and Denver... two of the best teams in the NFL... and St. Louis by 3 points. They beat teams like Seattle, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. The rest of their wins were against some of the worst teams but while I do think they're "overachievers" (I would say overrated but apparently they are not getting as much credit as a 12-4 team would), I think they will lose to NE this Saturday... but I think Jack Del Rio deserves A-... B+ AT THE LOWEST. Also... 12-4 with Leftwich out for 5 weeks.
