Grading the Ja'Wuan James Pick Now

My heart was set on a few earlier taken tackles but considering what was left.. looks like James was the best of the bunch... but honestly... i still think its a tad too early to tell... lets wait untill the real games to pass judgement.... its not like he has had any real competition for the RT ... i think all along they penciled in James at RT no matter what...

Here's hoping that we nailed it.

Said it at the time and I'll say it now, he was the only RT that you could trust left in the draft.

I still wanted Brandin Cooks though.

But the pick makes sense, no doubt.

Ditto. I understand the pick but Gawd, I just wanted the Dolphins to at least draft ONE explosive player for ONCE in my lifetime. Just once that's all.

I don't think anyone expected Cyrus Kouandjio and Morgan Moses to be good anyways.

hmmmm..in more recent times, the FO have attempted this with such projected explosive picks as Teddy Ginn, Lamar Miller, Vontae Davis & Dion Jordan - it just works out we never seem to pick the bankers. However, that could be said of a lot of the other NFL teams around the league, we just seem to have a history of it.

Same here I was in the camp that one of the 2 round OTs would do but training camp is starting to change that some. We will see if it last through preseason and the regular season.

I've not heard much of anything coming out about him.

As far as an OLineman is concerned that is VERY, VERY great news. For the most part, this kid is holding his own against one of the very best and most dynamic DL's in the game.

Any questions? :)

Jim1 was the huge Kouandjio fan before the Draft (I wanted S'ua-Filo), but the JaWuan James pick is looking pretty solid at this stage. Maybe I was wrong and Dennis Hickey knew what he was doing.
These are still early days in determining whether a team selected the right one. Everyone wants an immediate evaluation of Draft selections, but the missing ingredient is time.

Ted Ginn?
You obviously never saw the Ted Ginn college highlight video. It was exciting. His pure speed when in stride was exceptional. He was a world class sprinter. What we didn't understand and wasn't in the highlights was Ted's penchant for avoiding any physical contact. We also didn't understand that he had to catch the ball and when he did, having an enormous stride was great for the track but not a great asset in the NFL unless in the open.

the guy hasnt even played a snap in a preseason game...barely played in pads...jumping the gun a little???

Same can be said for the names on that list but the fact of the matter is, he's holding his own in camp against one of the best DL's in football. That's saying something even though we haven't played any real games yet. If you ask me, you can tell a lot about a player evaluating one on one blocking drills going against the likes of Wake, Vernon, Starks, and young players trying to make a team. The fact that he's doing ok, and those others are struggling.. means something. It would definitely mean something if he was struggling thus far... so gotta be fair.
