I think it would be helpful if some of us got an idea how they fared last week. When Albert left the game it seemed like that's when our oline started playing better. Maybe my eye is deceiving me so I would like to ask the experts how did Tunsil and Urbik fare when they were the left side of the line together?

I meant to post a thread addressing this and taped the one and a half drives they played side by side, but I don't have the time for a breakdown ATM. I'll try and get to it tonight.

for some reason I cant embed this clip but it shows Urbik getting to the 2nd level and blocking the Mike

Adam Gase said yesterday playing LT was like riding a bike for Laremy Tunsil. Wrong, Tunsil said. "Not like riding a bike. It's hard."

It looks like the LB was just waiting there to be block and all Urbik had to do was take a couple of steps forward and block him. Had a clear path to the LB but I also would like to see how they both did together for more than just one play.

Ozzy rules!!

Well ****. I had the first drive of the half broken down with Vines to match and when I hit submit I was for some reason no longer logged in and it failed to post.

I had a more thorough write up originally, but In short.

Play #: Bubble screen. Nothing much asked of the line. Quick play to get your feet wet kinda call.

Play #2: Ajayi's 40 yard run. The credit there goes to Sims on the hook, Gray on the drive, and Landry on the crack which also saved Urbik's ass by cutting off his defender from his missed block.

Play #3: All Ajayi with 3 broken tackles as the line was taken to the cleaners.

Play #4: Good communication b/w the two and a successful pass protection on the left side as Urbik read the DE and then passed him off to Tunsil to accept the looping OLB. The protection broke down on the right side which Tannehill did a nice job of sensing the pressure, extending the play, and hitting Landry on a corner route.

Play #5: FB dive. Offense shifted from Power-I to Offset-I and brought Sims in motion to the playside. Urbik was driven into the backfield, Tunsil locked up his man, and Sims had a great drive block which cleared a lane behind him for Williams.

Overall, in the one pass protection set (minus the simple bubble screen) Urbik and Tunsil did well. For the 3 running plays, Tunsil was average and Urbik was poor.

In the 2nd drive of the 3rd qtr this was the play that occurred right before Albert reentered the game. Though whether BA was actually ready and it was just a coincidence that Tunsil was responsible for Tannehill almost getting his head ripped off here will never be known outside of the coaches. Tunsil's mishap occurrs from him trying to apply both hands on the OLB at the same time and did not use independent hand usage which affords a lineman a sort of safety valve to prevent such moves like the spin here by Ingram.

Shula broke it down but a couple things i will add

Steens one play is the fullback dive hes pushed in the backfield but it doesnt effect the end result and i think he gives ground there so the tackle comes forward and not laterally to the ball on the dive...

The long runs miami takes advantage of poor lb play on one...the off tackle run the mike lb that urbik tries to get to takes a horrible inside angle giving urbik who is sloppy and off balance a gift block when had he read his keys he would have flowed laterally avoiding that slow plodder at the 2nd level and met the ball at the los...miamis taking advantage of depth lb play there

The other long run ajayi sees the mike lb in the hole and bounces it outside and tunsil gets a terrific block on the edge to give him the corner...urbiks job there is easy cause the mike is late to react to the redirect outside and he no longer has an angle....more than anything that plays a result of ajayis vision and tunsil crushing the edge...the mike gets caught in traffic really

Tunsil at left tackle looks fine to me...good feet good lateral quickness...the one play he got beat on with the spin he was able to push the rusher inside slightly giving tanny the ability to shed and escape...most tackles there get beat and never touch a guy...shows what kind of athlete he is

Miami is looking at downgrades in space and at the 2nd level at left guard and the pivot if steen plays for pouncey...urbik is sloppy in space and a limited move athlete

I think miami needs to install some misdirection pitch plays to take advantage of for what i see very aggressive fronts playing the front side in the run game...theres no real instincts at lb on this tape for san diego these guys are just hell bent on getting to the front side...time to throw them a curve ball with misdirection, reverse action, etc.

Get the lb level taking false steps

I'm fine with that play. LBs/DEs get paid to make plays too. I know we don't expect the OL to never allow a sack but sometimes it just happens.

Nice catch on Steen being the guard on the FB dive, Hoops. If he plays center vs the Ram's even from he most likely wont have to worry about lining up 1v1 against the tackles.

I remember that play where Ingram beat Tunsil, it was pretty bad.

That being said Ingram did beat Albert on a few plays and generally had a great game. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the opposing player, Ingram did play really well.

There were too few plays...especially those where Urbik was the focus of the play to determine if he is really any good or not.
