REGINA, Saskatchewan -- Graham Harrell is headed to the CFL.
The record-setting Texas Tech quarterback signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Thursday.
Harrell is the NCAA Division I career leader in touchdown passes but wasn't drafted by the NFL. His workout with the Cleveland Browns did not result in a contract.
Harrell had to fight the perception that his numbers were the product of Texas Tech's offensive system and he didn't have the arm strength to succeed in the NFL.

This is surprising to me- I saw him as a 3rd or 4th rd pick coming out- not an overpowering guy, but smooth and cagey with enough of an arm and what I thought was really good accuracy. Before the draft I thought that he would stick and do well. Now he can't even make it into an NFL training camp- shows what I know.

he should thrive very well in the cfl, in which most teams employ similar concepts offensively that the red raiders did

In fairness I taught the same thing. Maybe a team who runs the spread might have given him a chance, but CFL may be the place for him.

crazy how the NFL is. Pat White is a second round pick and Harrel is not drafted. Not saying he was a better prospect. I will say he is amuch better qb prospect than friggin Stephen McGhee

I find it weird that he has such a great year playing in his system and its only the system but next year Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford play systems that help the QB and are considered such high draft picks.

The funny thing is that if Harrel was considered faster and ran better with much lesser passing stats he would have been drafted.
