Anyone here ever go to FL spring training games?

A couple buddies and I are planning on making a weekend of beer, hot dogs, and spring training. Right now, planning on seeing Yanks-D Rays and Phillies-Red Sox.

Just wondering if it's fun, etc.

I've been to a few. It's fun because you get to see a lot of the younger kids/prospect play but if you're going there to see the big name players you'll be a little disappointed. The starters usually play 1 to 3 innings if that (the visiting team usually only brings 3 or 4 of its starters on trips because the bus rides are so long).

If you can a chance to see the team in a practice its fun as well because most of the players will stop to talk and sign autographs after their work outs as its a relaxed atomsphere.

i go to some every year. the pirates play in my city and the reds one city over. i go see the pirates when the rays play them. and im a huge griffey fan, so i usually catch a couple of those to. their a blast for me. i enjoy the minors and prospects though, so....real laid back.

I saw the Phillies in Clearwater a few times in the 80's, but I enjoyed the Cactus League more in Arizona.

Ive only been to one spring training game but I got to see the rocket against greg maddux.

Aight, thanks guys...still sounds like it's worth a short drive. And good call on the practice, we may try and catch one of those.
