Penny's is off the charts, Dan's is lower than it should be reflecting the Peyton, Manning, Brady type league helping hand from which he did not benefit. Still and all, stripping out that 1 year Pennington placebo (a dream that ended with 8 in the Ravens Box), it's interesting to see where, despite his struggles, Tannehill ranks thru 6 games and in previous years

If you link to this chart, you can mouse hover over specific years to see corresponding stats

Fiedler may have been among the worst but damn that guy was fun to watch and funny to look at.

This is impressive seeing RT not only fairing so well but that he's also on the uptick for 3 straight seasons and he's approaching a 90 rating this year.

76.1 in 2012
81.7 in 2013
87.8 in 2014

1998 was when Jimmy Johnson took Dan Marino's ability to audible away. 1999 was when Dan missed 7 games I think with a pinched nerve in his shoulder and Damon Huard became the QB.

Surprised that 2007 with Cleo Lemon, John Beck and Trent Green was better than 2004 with Feeley, Fiedler and Rosenfels.

Very nice seeing the progression in RT's game.

Actually, scratch that; It's awesome to such an improvement every year so far in RT's game!

Also proves that even in T-hill's first and worst year he was never as bad as Henne. I mean, not that anyone would be that ignorant to make such a comparison; just saying.

You can see pretty clearly when the injuries -- particularly back problems -- started to really take a toll on Dan.

I'd buy some more RT 17 on any pull back

Team Passer rating should continue to improve over the next few games.

NFL Team Opponent Average Team Passer Rating

25 Jacksonville 100.0
14 San Diego 90.0

But then it could dip as we face some tougher teams to pass against

2 Detroit 76.4
15 Buffalo 90.4
5 Denver 80.6

These ratings tend to fluctuate through the season depending on who you play. I like the improvement but want to see it last the entire season.

Agreed, Consistency is the key for T-Hill

Dan's is lower than it should be...

And that makes this chart pretty useless as it doesn't really show us an accurate graphical representation. Looking at it, it shows RT is now as good as Marino was at the top of his game. Does anyone really believe RT should even be mentioned in the same sentence as Marino?

Different eras.

If Marino had the same rules that Manning played with, Manning would still have to play ten more seasons to catch Dan's yardage and TDs.

lol...noodles arm fell of twice in like 3 years he was with us and that guys held on such a pedestal it's not funny...unless i'm off his BEST year in miami he had 19 tds over 16 games...against a 1-15 schedule and having the crutch of the wildcat to lean on all season...that's the definition of a game manager qb...til his wing fell off...multiple times

Actually it makes your whining about any data that has the audacity to put RT17 in a positive or hopeful light more predictable than the chart is useless.

Pennington had a very nice year in 2008 but let's not act like he was lighting up the scoreboard. We had two games where we put up high point totals, the Wildcat game vs the Patriots and when we played the 2-14 Chiefs that were so bad everyone got fired.

As for the whole passer rating thing, I've been comparing QB seasons lately and I only use data from 2004 and after -- i.e. after illegal contact became a point of emphasis. You can't really compare players who played in the 80s to players who are playing now.

Qbr's are generally higher this year than last year. Tannehill's 88 QBR is better than last year's 82 but the 6 pt increase can also be tied to every NFL pass thrown this year.

2013 average passer rating 84
2014 average passer rating 90
