This says alot. I think its dead on. Sparano needs to just dump Beck and come out and say that Henne is our man. He needs to make it clear to everyone that Pennington is going to start and as soon as Henne is ready he will take over. This team needs clear cut direction and leadership. We need to clear the air and remove the slop so we can march forward.

I agree.
Beck is a goner. I don't think Beck is capable to play in the NFL.
No team can trust his ability in the pocket, nor should any team count on him to be a reliable backup. He will make Ray Lucas look like Dan Marino.

He reminds me more of AJ Feeley with out the 5-1 record before we got him.

Lucas isn't bad though.

people have short term memory, because when Beck stepped out on the field last preseason, people were calling him the next Marino in game one . . . **** is funny too see the same thing happening to Henne.

Kdawg,
I know you were upset about Cameron being fired, but cmon how can you deny that Beck looks like total garbage out there? He has no poise in the pocket and looks like he needed a couple of years more at BYU to pad his stats.
Are you just upset that this will just validate what a complete and total, absolute FAILURE the Cameron regime was with the lone exception being Samson?

Take this guy and this article and insert John Becks name over Henne's last year. The guy is a joke.

I never called him the next Marino. I'm not calling Henne the next Marino either...there will never be another Dan Marino.

Great article! i agree for the most part but i think that Josh McCown should be dropped instead of Beck. I like Henne a lot but i have to point 1 thing out. John Beck and Henne both played with the 1st team offense but Beck played 1st quarter against Tampa's starters and Henne played 2nd and 3rd quarters and i assume that Gruden had his back ups at least by halftime in. He still looked good but i have to be a little skeptical.. just a little.
Go Dolphins and Go Chad! (am i talking about penny or henne? i'll never tell)

People evolve. I like Beck. I am rooting for Beck. But it is obvious that the guy plain STINKS. I've never seen a QB do a spike play like the clock was running out for no apparent reason.

there is no reason to give a job to anyone right now... its basically obvious what is happening though. Pennington will start, we got a very smart, mature, and accurate QB to help lead our offense for now (no arm though)... then we have the man drafted by the Parcells committee, Henne whom is having a decent camp and is their developmental project, so obviously he shall stick around. then we got Beck who hasn't shown much improvement and not having a good camp, the same to say on a veteran back-up who been tossed around. who to keep??? why not maybe a cheaper Beck who could still develop hopefully (is it more or less confidence??? he is hesitant in many ways)... but to come right out and state a starting QB is unneeded, especially when you got Henne working his booty off, and Beck trying to make the team too..... keep it all working!!!

Let Them Compete, No Assumptions!!!

I understand Cote's frustration but, you can't have it both ways.

You can't announce (as he has) that he's not making any CONCLUSIONS based on 10 passes thrown in 1 pre-season game yet... He wants the Dolphins to take a DEFINITIVE action based on 2 weeks of camp and 10 passes thrown in 1 pre-season game!!

Which is it going to be cuz, you can't have both!

This isn't PARCELL's first QB battle and he knows, sometimes the early frontrunner hits a mental wall and the underdog keeps learning and eventually plays better and better.

The Dolphins don't know what BECK is going to develop into so I think they're gonna keep him. The guy who's the odd man out is McCown who looked awful week 1. Even with the 3rd and 4th string guys in the 4th quarter, he should have gotten the ball out rather than take sack after sack.

And he did that in front of friends and family and his brother on the other sideline. Whatever "it" is, McCown ain't got it.

Conversely, whatever "it" is, HENNE is showing flashes of it.

So you dump McCown, bring PENNINGTON into the QB rotation and see if he's able to outplay BECK (a monkey slinging poo could outplay BECK recently) and HENNE.

But the reason that you make NO assumptions is because HENNE could legitimately push for playing time while PENNIGTON acclimates himself with the offense. Just as BRETT the JET is gonna have scrambled eggs for brains trying to make heads or tails of a new offense and new receivers, PENNINGTON is in the same boat.

The guy with arm strength and promise who's been working with the guys there and knows the offense is HENNE. He just might be best choice to start in 3 weeks. You never know and you just CAN'T assume so, you let the guys compete. Practice will tell the tale.

GO PHINS!

He's probably a nice enough person, he just sucks as a football player.

Listen, the guy studies a lot, has traveled the world to help people and seems like a great family guy.. I wish him well, perhaps he will make a great coach. But he has no business wearing a MIAMI DOLPHINS uniform if he looks like a JV flag football player out there.
