GREAT PICK!!!! Lamar Miller!!!

To somewhat support JCane (sadly) A friend of mine who is 2nd in charge of college scouting for a team that is not in the AFC East (or the AFC all together) just texted me saying "Risky. Ireland is taking a lot of raw high ceiling low floor players. Must have absolutely zero confidence in the ability of the coaching stuff. Miller has serious injury concerns as well"

By coaching staff he means Miami Hurricanes.

I just texted him asking what his grade would be if not for the injury concerns but haven't heard back.

Hmm taking players like this kind of supports the idea that Ireland has a lot of trust in our coaching staff. If you didn't he would draft the players who aren't risks.

According to Wes Bunting of NFP.com; Miller is the prototypical WCO TailBack!!! he had Miller ranked in the top 40.

Solid pick. Was one of the best players on the board and you can never have to many RBs.

in the booth, they were trying hard not to laugh at the pic and ALL of them questioned the choice BIG TIME!! mayock shredded him.

why?

he cant pass block, at all!! he has no vision and no insticts. he can do ONE THING, he can use his good speed to run down field IF there is a HUGE HOLE to run through. how is this a great pic? we already have a big time rb who IS a bonafide game braker and can cut back, run between the tackles, catch the ball, ANOTHER THING MILLER CANT DO, and is a star. if they wanted insurance, take LAMICHAEL JAMES instead of a week ot who cant block at the next level and is succeptable to speed rushers early and not have to give up picks to do it? [like san fran did when they already have a pro bowl rb].

its about talent and selecting it at the right time. thats why the 49eers went from worst to first and we are staying put, again.

me sees some pretty big time canes homers in here. the guy can do ONE THING ONLY and he wont be getting the holes he had in college.

our biggest needs havnt been met, db who can actaully cover and safety's who can handle the pats TE's. a wr who can get in the endzone. we dont have one. yes, we needed an ot, but massie is bigger and has just as good feet, slide and mirrors and BLOCKS WELL IN THE SECOND LEVEL which is what you need to do in a zone scheme. better player, better value. we still need a rt guard? the best are gone. we have a team full of after thoughts already!

but we trade pics to come up in an early, important round to draft a position we DONT need and a player who brings NOTHING to an nfl table.

worst draft of the ireland era and will go down as one of the worst, if not the worst draft this club has had.

come see me in two years homers!!

As always a ray of sunshine.

You gleaned this info from some blowhards on TV? I've seen lamar play every college game and some of them in person, the kid is a flat out stud. He was carrying an injury later in the year and his production suffered but when he was healthy he was magic. He had most of his beat games against good teams too. Anyways, I wouldn't put Gore at the top of the wonderlic, and he's a great NFL running back. Getting Lamar as late as we did is a great pick.

boom. nothing else really needs to be said...

IF we could get guys in every round, that had the talent to be picked two rounds minimum earlier, everyone would be elated...

IMO.. you don't always pick on need, in fact, I think we'd be better served if we rarely picked guys based on need. qb being the exception as everything starts and ends with the qb..

johathon martin was great value.. I would say he had 1st round talent... tanny was 19 ish on a lot of boards... lamar miller, martin, and tannehill, all guys with first round talent, and we got all of them... thats a good draft... add to that the other guys, and I am grinning from ear to ear this year.

I like the pick as a situational type player, kick returner, and most importantly, Reggie Bush insurance. People should prepare themselves for the very real possibility that last year was a fluke for Bush, both from a production standpoint, and injury. Not to mention he only has one more year under contract.
