If you have a great QB it wouldn't matter whot he recivers are, Brady has made average recievers look great for years. Since Marino the problem with Miami is, was and always has been a QB.
So you're thinking all CB's on the other team can cover #1 WR's? Wrong. There will be all kinds of mismatches: our receiving TE matched on one of their Lb's as an example. When we come out in 4/5 WR set do you really think any team will have 4/5 really good cb's? No, they won't and therein lies the mismatch. Get a good WR of ours on their bad DB, VOILA - mismatch.
Don't get me wrong, i think one of our WR's will be considered our #1 guy at some point but i think they earn that with hard work and a rapport with the QB. But that designation will be earned not given. And this may take a year or two to pan out.
That'd be great if we had a #1 WR. I think most CB's in this league can cover Brian Hartline. I do have faith in the system and the coaches instilling it. I do understand that the WCO doesn't really need that #1 guy but I'd all but guarentee we upgrade the WR position next year.
Just getting rid of Sparano improved the offense immensely. Installing the WCO is the cherry on top.
Colombo retired as well.
