''As we work toward naming a starter, I'll make that announcement when my instincts tell me to make that announcement,'' the Dolphins coach said of the starting quarterback job.
Cameron is refusing to say Green is his starter and instead plans to let the 14th-year veteran split training camp snaps with journeyman Cleo Lemon until one wins the starting job outright.

Title is really misleading. All Cam is doing is sticking to his guns and saying there will be Competetion. Green has never declared himself as the starter.

Cameron can say what he wants, but everyone knows Green is the starter. You don't trade a 4th round pick and give a guy $6 million this season to sit on the bench. Green will so call "compete" for the starting job, but it is his unless something major happens that is highly unexpected.

Yeah and Zach Thomas won't be the starting MLB. Let's not be gullible. We've sat through these "training camp QB battles" for years and some people still don't get it. The only way Trent Green isn't starting QB come opening day will be due to injury.

i hope Lemon looks like a stud in preseason to raise his value and hopefully we get something for him. I hope Beck shines and climbs the depth chart.

Yeah the only service Lemon really provides to the Dolphins is a backup for the 2007 season. He won't be the starter this year and he's not in the team's future plans. If he would like to accept that role then I'd be thrilled to have him here for that, but if he wants to seek a better oppertunity, I think he deserves it.

He wants Lemon and Green to work there hardest instead of just sayin Green ur the starter than there really is no need for both of them to try so this will open up competition

We gave DC 8 million. Sorry, couldn't resist.
I knew this was coming. Let's not forget that he was the starter for the first four games before he got hurt. We gave up the pick, spent the big money and he was "supposed" be the full time starter. Just happened that he wasn't fully healthy and re-injured himself even more.

I don't think we have any "real" QB competition going on this year. Green is the main man, and Lemon should be more worried about fighting off Beck for #2 then thinking about starting.
