Miami Dolphins: Vonnie Holliday, DE

The Dolphins plan to use a 3-4 this year, with Jason Ferguson manning the middle and Matt Roth as one of the ends. The other end spot is where the competition heats up. Vonnie Holliday will have to fight off newly acquired Randy Starks for a starting spot. I don't see it happening. Holliday loses his starting job, and ultimately his job altogether.

Not sure how much you all can put on this looking at the list there are a good number of names I would not think

I think it's the opposite, Vonnie will make it and Roth will be gone.

that guy has no clue. roth has far more of a shot to be cut than holliday. holliday would make an excellent 3-4 DE. guy is nuts. clownshoes bro.

I don't know who this Greg guy is, but Rod Wright will be the main starting left DE. Roth will be depth or cut. And Vonnie cut, what insight. I bet Jason Taylor will be gone within the next 8 years too, maybe he should break that news.

never mind.... I found it.

2/21/2007: Signed a four-year, $20 million contract. The deal included a $6 million signing bonus and contains $10 million in total guarantees. 2008: $1.65 million, 2009: $2.8 million, 2010: $3.55 million, 2011: Free Agent

If this guy is correct, then Parcells could pick up Carpenter for nothing.

There is no way Vonnie is cut. He fits the 3-4. Sparano said he wanted Vonnie and JT to become Jake Long's best friends.

Not a chance.

i doubt carpenter will get cut or else dallas would have sent him our way in the trade rather than ayodele

Id rather have Vonnie here than Roth. Its obvious Vonnie would be far more produductive than Roth will be and Vonnie can also play on the end too...

Too many people are trying to read into Tony Sparano's forgetting about Holliday when he named the starters. At first he said that the starters would probably be Roth, Ferguson and Starks...and then someone asked about Vonnie and he corrected himself and said Vonnie would definitely be a starter and a leader of the defense.

I think it was pretty clear, without being absolutely crystal clear, that he had accidentally bumped Roth into a starting role and someone reminded him of Vonnie.
