Grier this year

Grier has done a great job. If he solves center and rt then gm of the year. Lbs coverage speed and range were issues that he addressed going into draft. Final piece is verify we covered at center and rt. Our udfas look like good rt talent to compete and backup. Maybe sign FA rt like darryl williams if players dont work out. Correctible still but worried about backup center

Improving as a General Manager before our eyes.
I think this year he has stepped up. I admit I wanted him gone last year. Let's see how the all the new players play and compete. Hopefully we start the season with better players/depth, and take steps to the playoffs. :ffic:

A great relationship with McDaniel and a little bit of luck (with injuries, longshots panning out, etc.) will help the man!

TBH, when he got the GM job, I was far from happy. As a scout, then head of scouting, he sucked. I didn't think he knew his ar5e from his elbow, mainly due to the rubbish drafts that he was involved in as the head of scouting. However, since Ireland has left, and then Tannabaum, he has stepped in, and although his first draft was average, it has improved immensely. More importantly, his trading of players who most posters thought were worthless, he got a pick for them.

This year, with only 4 picks, was not a great year for drafting, however, the players he picked up in FA, well, home runs hit.

Goes back to the Tunsil and the Houston deals , just taken awhile to pan out with the Flores fiasco and all. 2 close misses the last 2 seasons and I believe we finally get in it this year.

If you look at his work and strategy with Flores as a coach, compared to McDaniel as a coach, it's like night and day. It shows how much influence he lets his coaches have in player acquisition.

If there's one thing I've agreed with on the Grier hate, it's his hand in coach selection. Hey, Chris...maybe stop hiring crazy people to coach the team. It'll work out better for everyone.

I wanted him gone long ago but he's done a god job this year.....hard not to root for him because he seems like such a nice person. I agree that if MM works out then Grier will keep his job

I was no Grier fan but it’s hard to blame him for the picks when he was in the scouting department and not the individual making the picks. We have no way of knowing if the GM‘s and Head Coaches decided
to pick the players or positions they wanted in those drafts over players the scouts recommended.

I can only judge him based on the players he has selected since becoming the GM without Tannebaum over his shoulder and even though he certainly hasn’t been perfect. The job he has done in the draft and free agency has certainly been instrumental in turning this team around in the past three years.
