Cincinnati Reds center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. might be going to the Chicago White Sox after all  at least, if the future Hall of Famer has his way.

"I enjoy being in Chicago," Griffey told WMVP-AM 1000 during the Reds' visit to Chicago this week to play the Cubs. "My family comes here a lot. I do have control. The Reds and Chicago have to make a deal." Griffey was targeted for a trade by the White Sox prior to the July 31 trading deadline. The White Sox offered the Reds three prospects, including double-A outfielder Chris Young, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Griffey can reject any trade under the "10-5" rule, because he has played 10 years in the major leagues and the last five with the Reds.

"For the most part, I have to play for the Reds until something happens," Griffey told WMVP.

Before anyone misconstrues what he said in "The Reds and Chicago have to make a deal," he meant that before he can play for the Sox the teams must make a deal. That part's not up to him.

hes smart, hes trying to get a ring

It sounds to me like he's just trying to be the good guy as a visiting player. How many times do you hear ARod or Jeter or Torre saying how much they love the city of Boston? It's the same thing really plus Griffey was stating the obvious saying Reds and ChiSox have to make the deal however Griffey never said he would come to Chicago if they did.

Griffey should hop off the Red's ship...they are going nowhere.....Griff only has a limited amount of years left and he deserves a ring.

The Reds don't want to trade anyone because they're trying to sell the team and they figure keep what they have and let the new owner decide what to do with them.

The Sox could really use another bat after Frank went down. It'd be really cool to see Griffey in a White Sox uniform. (Instead of a... meh... Yankees uniform)

Most players clear waivers...nothing out of the ordinary. A lot of teams put their whole roster on waivers just for flexibility's sake.

I think he knows he's getting close to the end.

He also knows that he'll never win a ring in Cincinnati, so he wants to go to a team where he has a shot to win it all, and where he likes the city. The White Sox fit both those criteria, so I don't doubt that he'd want to go there.

(But I don't think they have a shot at winning it all, though.)
