Early fight of the night candidate...
Here is what the card looks like now...
-Randy Couture vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
-Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck
-Joe Stevenson vs. Kurt Pellegrino
-Marcus Aurelio vs. Clay Guida
-Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs. David Heath
-Kendall Grove vs. Patrick Cote
-Travis Lutter vs. Ryan Jensen
This is another really good card. The best thing about the folding of Pride, and the popularity boom of MMA, is the influx of talent into the UFC. Every card from here on out should be full of high quality matches....
The card for UFC 74 continues to grow, as MMAWeekly has confirmed that Clay Guida will take on the debuting Marcus Aurelio in lightweight action that will be featured on the main card of the pay-per-view.
Clay Guida was last seen at UFC 72 where he lost a close decision after putting on Fight of the Night against Tyson Griffin. Guida is a former veteran of many organizations including the WEC and StrikeForce and since his debut in the UFC has gone 1-2 with both losses coming in razor close decisions against Din Thomas and the afore mentioned Tyson Griffin.
Marcus Aurelio will be making his UFC debut in August and fans will be treated to a world class grappler who trains out of American Top Team and is also the man who gave Jorge Gurgel his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Aurelio made his biggest mark in MMA by defeating Pride lightweight champion Takanori Gomi in April 2006. Aurelio made short work of the champion, choking him out early in the first round, but lost a close split decision when they rematched later in the year with the Pride lightweight title on the line.
