"Gus is a Gunslinger".......

hmmmmmmmmm, gus has something after all? These are Denver Broncos talking. I dont think they would give him that respect if he didnt deserve it. Like I said before, the OL needs to do its job and give him time. If RB gets going, Gus could have a very nice day.

Not to stir up the waters, but some Denver Broncos Defensive players praised Feeley last season after his performance.. I doubt you gave much credence to them then, so why would you give creedence to them now?

a receiver knows a QB much better then any Defensive player ever would. And rod smith is one of the better ones in NFL history. Not saying hes hall of fame caliber, but hes definitly had a career worth remembering. And although i dislike elway, he was one of the legends, and Smith won two super bowls with him. Smith probably knows what hes talking about.

I think it was Al Wilson who praised Feeley saying he would be a good QB.. Are you saying Defensive players know nothing about the players they spend all week and all day trying to defend against? Ya, Rod Smith might have a little more knowledge since he spent more than one game with Gus, but I still wouldnt put much into it.. If I were to ask a Bengals receiver, would he make the same comment? Probably not.

Also, this quote isnt saying much.. "I knew that if I went to the Broncos I wasn't going to have the opportunity to be a starter," Frerotte said. "If I came to Miami, I was going to have that opportunity. That's been my whole career is to go someplace where I get the opportunity to be a starter."

Jake Plummer is dreadful, if he cant beat out Plummer, he is no more than a backup QB, which he is.. We have three backup QBs on the roster. I wish I could be as optomistic as you all, but after watching Gus got TDless in the preseason, save for a fluke play, I cant see him turning into an All-Pro Gunslinger over night.

Hmmmm yea right.

Gus is a former teammate of Rod's, he is not going to insult someone who is probably a friend..

Nice comments on Gus. The key for him to play good is having a OL that can block well. if they can't, then Gus will be screwed.

Too bad Miami's receivers wouldn't say good things about Feeley (other than words of sympathy and encouragement). Comparing a defensive players comments about a guy they played one game against with the comments from a wide receiver that spent a couple of years training with the person is just silly, don't ya think?

What do you expect them to say before they have to play him? That he sucks? :shakeno:

Nice post man and I strongly agree but I think just because Frerotte takes chances and bombs it up if he connects a few times in a game he will look like a hero.

Exactly!!!

A a recent quote by your superman...

''I think we may open it up,'' starting running back Ronnie Brown said. ``I think that everybody is excited about it being the first game and an opportunity to get started on the right foot for the season. I think that everybody is going to be pretty excited from that standpoint, and hopefully, we can go in and open it up a little bit and play well and eliminate some of the mistakes that we made in the preseason.''

I wish the best for Ronnie Brown. He'll be a good football player...unfortunately he's going to need some reps before he actually gets it. I wouldn't expect much from him this weekend!

Actually, no. And Feeley's teamates have made similar comments of him in the past. A defensive player pours over tape of a QB, they spend an entire week living and breathing their tendencies and their abilities. Then, after the game, particularly in one where they were victorious they feel the need to heap praise upon the opposing QB? To me thats just as valid as a WR who had limited reps with a QB. Again, ask a bengals WR to comment on Gus, you think he makes the same comments? Keep on dreaming that Gus will become some all-pro in Miami, its not going to happen. These comments from Smith, while a bit encouraging, dont really mean much. Especially since the comment is just "Gus is a gunslinger".. Doesnt say anything about GOOD gunslinger.

Ryan Leaf was a gunslinger too.
