I think we need to get the ball down the field more. Take chances. Let Chambers and the other WR's make a play . There are too many dink and dunk plays and I know Gus doesn't have much time with the OL, but Linehan needs to create opportunities for the offense to make big plays.

It will be hard to throw against their secondary. Getting single coverage is essential and a little time will be needed to accomplish.

They have some young safeties, if we can expose them any way possible, we should. Go deep on Thomas Jones with Boston or Chambers.

You need extra time in pass protection to go deep. If we are getting the time to do that we should definitely attack em deep but that's a big if against their line

Not neccessarily, just find a pre-snap mismatch if you're Gus, 3 or 5 step drop and gun it. And pass protection hasn't been our O-line's weak point.

We also need some sort of a running game, because if ground game is like last week, then there will be more dime packages, where defense dare us to beat them on the ground which Miami hasn't shown lately, and will make it difficult to go deep, plus the o-line has to give adequate time also.

I disagree with throwing deep being a consistent part of our game plan.

here is why:

1) Our OL isn't all that great at blocking (pass or run) and the Panthers defense can bring a great pass rush. Why give them that extra second to make a big play against us?

2) Gus is showing very good timing and accuracy on the short mid range passes, however, he is VERY off on his deep passes. The pass is just as likely to get INT then get us a big gain.

I think our defense can keep this game close for us. Gus needs to hit guys in stride and those players need to make plays.

I'd still like to see some passes over 20 yards...

I think Gus is afraid to let it rip & is being too cautious with deep throws. You can tell that we have had many of them called in the last couple games & Gus loads up but just won't let it go. I personally don't have a problem with an interception 50+ yards down the field every once in a while, it's just as well as a punt.

I'd like to think our home games is where we'll take more chances this early in the season going long.

Gus has looked good in both regualar season games.I'm glad we had the competetion in preseason even with the couple int's.

For the most part Gus has been smart with the ball.I like what I see early on.

It can only get better!

One great thing about Gus is that I don't see ANY resemblences to Fiedler.

Should have just kept Griese...stupid *#^@$(# Wanny & Spielman.

We have been trying to go downfield in the passing game so far in both games....But the 1st priority is moving the chains...You can't just heave the thing all over the place and expect to have any success. The deep stuff will come eventually...patience grasshoppa...:cap:

I agree....look at the Skins/Cowboys game...Brunell waited 4 quarters before he threw that long rope in the endzone.

You take what they give ya and ya move those chains, but keep em honest with a few down the field.

Those safies slowly move up to anticipate the run or underneath stuff during a game, then you make em pay when they move up too much.

the line is too bad for long dropbacks. until the line plays better or the defense pressures less, there won't be too many long bombs i imagine

mcmike down the middle. thats the answere. Mcmike had it all day against the jets and yet we only went there once or twice.
