I gotta say even though Im a big sage guy, gus really surprised me! He had poise and concentration and thru some decent passes. A couple passes got me worried but overall Id give him an A- on a fine performance!

I saw Gus have some games like this at Mile High for the Denver Donkeys....he can look really good at times, BUT he also has his moments where he looks like Fiedler (bad throws that get picked off, forced throws, etc.). I just hope Gus can out put it together for a whole season.

Gus was on 790 the ticket today with Boog. Apparently he will have his own show on Tuesdays. AJ must be cryin'

Does Gus's wife look like Heather Mitts? Dont think AJ is crying.

I was shocked Gus played like he did. The entire preseason, he really didn't show anything to suggest he could put up a game like that. He has been inconsistent throughout his career, so hopefully he can keep it going for a few games in a row.

I think that Gus shocked everybody in the world by out good he played in the game. I sure hope that he can play something like that in every game. If he does, then we could be the most suprised team in 2005.

It's tough to go by what he did in the preseason. Not once did he or any of our QB's for that matter, play an entire game. Take the first half, if you pull him out, his day is very average. But then, after some adjustments and reps, he comes out in the 3rd and 4th quarters and light it up. Don't forget that Frerotte did make the Pro Bowl a few years ago, so he's got it in him to be real good. This could another one of those years for him. Just as long as we don't ask him to do too much, he'll be fine.

heh you guys view pics on the net to much instead of looking around on the street clubs college campus'... heather mitts isnt anything special :p

GUS shocked us that is the problem. He is not going to shock us every week. He has been a back up for 12 years, he sucked in preseason and took 6 weeks to beat out AJ and then had one good game. God I hope he has anther one!!!

I'm sorry for you (being a Sage guy...the same Sage that couldn't beat Ears out), but while Gus did the mental things to make us successful (picking the right recievers, changing plays when needed at the LOS, general game management, knowledge of Linehan's concept of how he wanted things to go) he was physically very close to giving the ball up several times and threw behind his receivers all day...they made some nice catches...the only mental blooper was the int. He just threw the ball away too low....If he can minimize his one or two mistakes, and either get a little more in tune with his receivers...we might be ok...however, his history is that he'll have several good games and then a game or two that are very bad, then a couple more decent games, then a few poor games....we'll see, I guess....I'm not very excited about Gus as our QB...

I would take his place any second. A pro football player with a trophy wife. I can only dream.
