Gus to Start? New Bedard Blog

Yeah, it's looking that way. I was pulling for AJ, because he's young and would have more upside, but it seems pretty clear that Gus is the better player right now. Gus has been more consistent, shown more poise, and displayed the leadership Saban is refering too. All of those comments seemed like indirect criticisms of AJ who can make plays and throws a great ball, but struggles with the intangibles.

Don't think that Channing Crowder is logging double duty with the ones (weakside) and twos (middle) for no reason. The coaching staff knows that Zach Thomas has been labeled as a guy who breaks down late in the season. They're getting Channing ready for that, and possibly to take over at Mike should Zach find his way out of Miami after this season.
