Winner Under Construction
First, good win. We just needed to get beyond the Jags. We didn't need to prove anything, except that we can take care of business against really bad teams.
I'd like to point out that I have not seen half-time adjustments from a Dolphins offense or defense in many years. We've all seen where other teams make them. They are often frustratingly successful against us, too. In our team's case, they were like a fairy tale our coaching staffs didn't believe in. Our teams played like that was true, too.
THIS YEAR after half-time, I see a difference in our team's play, on both sides of the ball, every game. That difference is winning us games.
Both Coyle and Lazor will tell you they don't make adjustments at half-time, saying there isn't time to do that. Well, I've seen too much this year to believe that one bit.
I think, at minimum, our coaching staff is calling different plays, or using different personnel packages, one they've had a chance to briefly review what the other team is doing. They likely point out mismatches and guys open to our key players. I think there might be a lot that can be done by position coaches and players during half-time to make small adjustments and tweaks in what we are doing.
Yes, Coyle and Lazor deny it; however, I think that's just a part of Philbin's misinformation strategy.
