I'm really interested in what everyone thinks on this. If Ricky Williams ends up coming back and having a phenominal end to his career, whether it be 2 years or even longer than that, and ends up breaking some kind of single season rushing records, whether it be with the phins or any other team, do you think the HOF would be reluctant to allow him to be inducted. This is just a "what if" thread so don't tear it apart for everything that it's worth. I just really wanna know if you guys think that if he ends up deserving to be in the HOF, not saying that he will, do you think that the people that vote players in would be reluctant to do so just because of his history? I mean honestly ... look at barry sanders, he retired early , of course for different reasons, and contimplated a return and he's in the Hall. I dunno ... just a "let's pass some time" thread i suppose.

imo he has no chance of making it in the HOF after what he pulled. He would have to break some serious records.

He wasn't even close to a HOF back before he "retired" do he'd have a LONG way to go. If he comes back and plays another 5-7 big time years the I think he could be discussed but he is nowhere near a HOF back even if we take away last year. He had 1 all-time great season in 2002 and that was his only HOF caliber season.

I agree he has a lot to fdo before we can think that, but no one can argue he has HOF talent.

well if you look at it statistic wise, hes got over 6,000 rushing yards and 41 TD's if he plays 4-5 more seasons(not all with fins) and gets close to 10,000 rushing yards and gets 60-70 td's total its possible, but im not so sure if you consider into the fact of what he did, alot of things would have to happen

I think controversy is overrated. If an outstanding player messes up off the field, he'll probably still get in the HOF. I mean, look at OJ Simpson and Lawrence Taylor.

OJ was in the hall long before he killed anyone and LT had drug problems but was the best defensive player in history. Ricky is nowhere near HOF level right now but if he had Emmitt #s and pulled his stunt it would not have affected his HOF chances but when you are a fringe candidate(which he has a long way to go to even be considered that) then other things are factored in.

Sure. Barry Sanders pulled the same thing. He retired (For Good) on the eve of camp. Riggins left close to camp & he got in. This will have no bearing on the HOF for RW.

So RW can make the HOF if his numbers match up. I doubt he will, since I do not see him playing long enough.

very unlikely. However that made me think about another productive back, even more productive w/o all of the baggage. Terrell Davis. He hit the vaunted 2K mark, led the Broncos to 2 championships and was MVP of the League, if not the Super Bowl. I know his career numbers fall short of someone like OJ but he has to be considered in the same vein as Gale Sayers...

Does anybody know if Warren Moon is in yet? 49K in the Nfl and 20-something in the CFL...probably one of the most underrated QB's of all time.
