Did you know we surrendered a first round pick in 1970 to the Baltimore Colts to get him as our new coach as we came into the NFL via the AFL-NFL merger? I didn't know this until today when NFL network posted the graphic.
Did you know, Coach Shula drafted Joe Thiesmann in 4th round of the 1971 draft? Theismann and the Fins couldn't come to a contract agreement so he played his first few years in Canada. In 1974, the Redskins traded their #1 pick to the Dolphins in exchange for Thiesmann's rights.

Yup, only on a technicality, too. We had the agreement in place with Shula before the leagues merged, but once the merger took place it technically became a league rule violation.
