I realize that the likelihood of any of these guys all of a sudden getting a whole lot better is pretty low but for some reason I would almost feel as comfortable with one of these guys starting this season than Culpepper (or Brees for that matter).

Don't get me wrong, I think that Pepp and Brees can both be elite talents but 2 things concern me:

1) Both are coming off serious injuries. Culpepper has always relied on his legs to get solid yardage and that likely won't be an option at least for a while. Brees' is just as bad considering he tore his throwing shoulder,

2) This only concerns me about Culpepper. FUMBLES FUMBLES FUMBLES
I don't know what the exact stats are for him but I do know that almost every time I watch him play he fumbles the ball.

Now I really hope that I'm proven wrong because I know that the potential we now have at QB is as high as it's been since Dan left. Only time will tell

you do realize Ramsey is now a Jet right

Patrick Ramsey is a Jet.

I'm not sure how you can suggest Ramsey, Collins, or Harrington are comparable type players to Culpepper or even Brees.

Culpepper is alot more likely to get back to a high level then any of those players are to actually make it to a high level in the first place.

Daunte will not be run a lot and our O-line will give like 15 sacks

I dont see how he can lose more than 3-5 balls

The post was a little weak...there is no comparison between Cu or Br with any of the three you listed. Come on...you can't be serious. RB's have come back from this injury, Culpepper will be just fine. He may scramble less, but his passing is damn good and will probably improve with less running. I would take the two left as backup, but nothing more.

Well DCs injury, according to his doctors and also from others with similar injuries (McGahee), takes a calendar year to recover from. What DC does have going for him is the position he plays. He might be able to get back to playing sooner than a RB like McGahee we'll have to wait and see. Brees has a harder road to hoe...all injuries are unique to the individual that suffers them, but history is not on Brees side for a full recovery, given he's a QB. Add to that his arm strength prior to the injury and you have a recipe for a Chad Pennington type problem, but again, we just have to wait and see. He will more likely start the season (than DC), but how effective will he be ???

DC has, if I remember correctly 81 fumbles in 80 games, but only 22 of those were 'lost' fumbles. That doesn't make it ok, but it is a correctable issue. But if you look further into his problems, it stems more from OL issues in Minny than "small hands" or whatever. When the Vikes have had OL issues, he's had more fumbles...if we fix our OL we can help him out. This is just not that important an issue for us with DC...

  How many threads on this do you feel is necessary??
