Saban and Mueller's plan would be for Harrington to look very sharp this year when ever he plays. (Preseason, regular season, cleanup roll.) Because when next year comes along, somebody will be looking for a QB. And we can trade him. Turning our 6th or 5th rounder into a 2nd. This is the kind of stuff Mueller does. Then next year look for another bargain QB, and do it all over again. A almost can't lose gamble!

Actually we are taking Harrington to supply Culpepper while injured...

OK, if Harrington plays really well, and Culpepper is 100% ready next year, we could gain a great round pick for Harrington, but this wont happen again, because Culpepper would be the starter and there would be no other backup QB playing as Harrington likely will...

GO FINS!!! :dolphins:

a while a go they said that they were thinkiing of signing him for 2 year contract

Umm. The draft? That is where you find more backup qb's...and Randy is the best.

I agree. He will play, but will end up being a very expensive backup and I think Culp has a ton of years left-too many for Joey to wait. He gets a clean slate, better's his value and we trade him with 1 year left under contract.

We would put him in the same situation that he was just in.. Allow him to seek and trade with a new deal and we get a pick. I think its great.

If Joey is going to be a good QB, I cannot think of a better coaching staff to show him how to reach his potential. If we cant do it, noone can.

Cleo becomes the 2nd, Holland becomes the third and we draft another QB or if the staff has that much confidence wiht Cleo, we sign another UDFA.

I say Joey plays so well the first part of the season that Saban leaves him in (because you don't fix it if isn't broken) and we trade DC for a second round pick.

And youll need to look for a backup all over again.

Not very well thought out to think that is what they are planning.

Trading Harrington works better if he was signed for 3 or 4 years while you groom a repalement. We trade him and put Lemmon as our insurance? Nope.

i don't believe mueller had ANYTHING to do with the likes
of this joey harrington thing. and i am sure this has a lot
to do with the recent mueller to the rams rumours.

randy comes from the ron wolfe school of take a young
qb every year, it's like panning for gold. and many very
good young qb's have been found in later rounds this
way.

i hope to god harrington plays just well enough to get us
some sort of pic back next year. but it won't be for much
more than we gave, some teams qb will be injured and
saban will be sick of joey by then and unload him!

It is a two year deal.

I for one don't think Joey will be traded after this season. I think we will keep him for at least two years as the backup for Culpepper. I don't see Saban traded a pick for a one year rental.
