I'm not sure if anyone has already addressed the issues with the Offensive Line as it relates to having a new offensive Line coach? Could the slow start and difficulties Jake Long is having be due to change in scheme and technique changes he has been asked to try?

Appreciate any insight those closer to the game may have. thanks.:thanks:

If it was missed assignments, maybe...but Long got put on his ***...that isn't coaching...

It's probably because Jake received more help last season, he is still getting used to being his own island out there. There is no doubt the Coaching staff is going to ask Long to step up and different schemes compared to last year. I think we will see a good game from Long this week, he is a perfectionist.

Jake didn't get put on his *** cause he wasn't strong enough. He got put there cause of bad technique. As was stated before teams have had a full year of tape to look at on Jake. On the play in question Jake looked like he was expecting a speed rush and got bull rushed. Bad move on his part but its all correctable.

Think I read somewhere where over the last ten years or so only 5 rookies made it to the probowl in their first year. That includes alternate and starters. What he did last year was nothing short of spectacular. 2.5 sacks for the entire year and I think he had 1.5 in game one against the Jets. Please don't be so Quick to give up on one of our best players.

I'm not giving up on Long, I am giving up on the idea that the fault lies anywhere other than with Long...there is a difference...

That being said...Sparano did say he is looking at the line making initial contact too far back from the LOS. It sounds like he thinks that we may be allowing the defense to gain to much momentum before initial contact, which can result in the OL tending to anchor too near the QB. We will see if there is a change next week...
