There is talk out there that SF is bluffing on taking one of the QB's and wants to trade down or end up taking Edwards. I wonder what would transpire if that happens because all of a sudden you will have Qb's staring teams in the face if we dont take one. I do believe that SF controls what may end up happening to us somehow.

No question about it. If San Fran doesn't take a QB, it will effect us alot.

If they don't take Rodgers he will be a Dolphins immediately.

Obviously it does depend how Saban feels. That being said, Rodgers has a poise and pocket presence beyond his years to go along with some of the best accuracy and polish I have ever seen coming out of college.

Depends on how enamored Saban (or any other team) is with Rodgers.

Which brings me back to my other thread i did a couple of days ago talking about Ronnie Brown. Why would we want to trade down if we wanted Brown so bad? I dont think Saban would be enamored with Rogers at all. I think they will look at Smith alot but decide that there are other QB's out there that can do what he wants them to do.

I think Edwards is the guy that is becoming more of a "sure thing" as a WR who has shown a great attitude and ability even though he has dropped some balls in the past in big games (i heard this on Mike and Mike). Teams always need two great WR's to get the offense moving these days.

I honestly think Saban likes Smith over Rodgers any ways. So it might not affect as that much, because I think Saban likes both Smith and Edwards.

The Patriots have zero great wide recievers but they move just fine because there QB is so special.

Drafting is a game of bluffing and poker. Just because he is tending to ignore Rodgers does not mean he does not like him, nor does him bringing Smith in mean he likes him. Like he said, they just want "additional information".

It could effect us if they don't take Rogers and ANOTHER team really likes Rogers, cuz then we could have bargaining power to trade down (as long as we PRETEND we are interested in Rogers)

Maybe from a physical standpoint but he said yesterday they want to find out as much as they possibly can before they make this decision. I think he knows what he will get in Edwards already. I think he needs to come to grips on Smith and the RB's (which one he really wants) on what is best for this team. If Rogers is not taken, then other teams may get desperate to move up and take Edwards or Rogers or Ronnie Brown.

But then if SF takes Edwards, I think their is less chance of us trading down cus i think their are more teams interested in Edwards than anyone else at the top.

You take Rodgers if he is there. If not it makes it easier to trade down.

Personally, I think we should keep a solid head on our shoulders in such a scenario. No QB taken? Are you serious, we just "theoretically" got bumped into the #1 spot. By NOT taking a QB, SF has allowed Miami's #2 pick to have the same worth as #1. Thus, we now have HUGE negotiating power. Think of the teams who would suddenly be interested in wanting to trade JUST to have their CHOICE of Rogers or Smith.

I think you now have teams such as Arizona, Cleveland, Tampa Bay and Detroit seriously reconsidering their game plan. Suddenly, trading down is not just a reality, but also a very rewarding option. Not too mention the reshuffling of all draft boards it would create in the Top 10. Teams would be scrambling for positioning.

I personally believe the best suitor for our #2 is Cleveland. If Rogers or Smith is not taken with #1 AND it's also NOT traded to another team, Cleveland would love to have the opportunity to CHOOSE which QB they want.

I've also felt, if we could manage a trade with Cleveland, we would gain a pick while only losing one spot. Then, we could fall a little further in the Top 10 and gain another pick or two along the way. Meanwhile, we still position ourselves to get the player we want at a more suitable picking position for that player.

But, with all this speculation, we have to remember SF NEEDS a QB. There are NO FA QBs left and THIS is their only shot this year at a franchise QB. It's simply not gonna happen.
