Chubb is going to be a post June 1 cut since that will save us $20.2M where as a pre June 1 cut will save us only $7.3M.

Chubb has not been released or designated as of yet. I would say he still has a chance to be traded. Barring that happening, a post 6/1 designation cut makes sense.

I might be wrong, but I think to be a post June 1st cut they have to wait until the new league year starts to cut him. They already informed him he is being released, they just have to wait until March.

I would have to guess that we've basically granted him permission to talk to other teams. Kind of like how a player can be granted permission to seek a trade (and thus negotiate a new contract with the other team).

Technically, it's tampering unless we've given permission. Realistically, if we've already said he is being cut, it's unlikely we would pursue them for it.
