When the Martin/Cog commotion got going six weeks ago, many wanted Philbin gone next year. It appeared that he did not have the ability to lead and control a NFL team. Now, after what has happened/not happened, things look different. He has managed to get our team through this mess, seems more of a leader in control, and has even showed some emotion on the sidelines.

Has anyone changed their minds on wanting him to continue as our head coach?

If ya like, add in the consideration that this will almost certainly mean keeping Sherman and Coyle. Forget about Ireland, he gets way more than enough posts here.

I always liked Joe, but I was starting to lean the other way. Like I said in another thread I think it's amazing that the Dolphins are 4-2 since all these distractions occurred. I think Joe is doing a fine job right now and hope it continues.

Lets all chill and see how the last 3 weeks unfold

Let the team make the playoffs and even win a playoff game or 2 first then one can better make that decision.

If they do make the playoffs then the coach deserves to be kept. The guy is not Gruden for sure and his demeanor can be frustrating to those that want a more fiery coach but he may be just what the team needs. The players sure do seem to like him and that's saying something in his favor.

A little. I really thought he lost the team after the Buccs loss. I give him credit for keeping the guys together and motivated. That being said, he still worries me as a game day coach. Can that be learned over time? I don't know. His time management is atrocious and some of his decision making is questionable at best. Right now, best case scenario he is an Andy Reid type guy - a coach who can keep his team ready to go, but will collapse during games due to poor decisions and management.

Philbin deserves a ton of credit for keeping this team focused, it's clear he never lost the team

I wanted to give him 3 years to get his players in place and on the same page. I changed my mind when it looked like the inmates were running some things he knew nothing about. Now, I'm back to giving him the 3 years regardless of the rest of the season. Joe has gone through a lot this year, and I believe he is a better coach from it.

I gained some respect for Joe after I found out he wanted to cut Cog after the golf course assault, which reaffirmed my dislike of Ireland.

I like the way he has kept the team focused. That's honestly very impressive. I like the fact that the team has come out prepared to play since the Bucs fiasco. I like that the team is playing its best football right now. I like the fact that we outplayed and beat the Steelers in a snowstorm at their house in a desperate elimination game in which they pulled out all the stops and played after the whistle.

But I'm troubled at the fact that Joe's game management has been really bad in spots this year -- whereas I thought it was good overall last year. That's really the one thing that bothers me. That decision to kick the FG at the end of half against the Steelers, I know some people think I am being too harsh, but it really was a terrible decision.

Don't think he lost team there was a lot of s$%t going on and things had to settle down. The loss to the bucs was a combination of it all and thinking they would win by showing up.

He is the coach, he has the authority to cut players if he wants, and at the very least, BENCH players. That story was all PR. If Philbin wanted to do something about Cog after that incident, he could have. He didn't. Actions matter.

Oh, one area where I like Philbin:

Timeouts. Under Sparano this team never had timeouts at the end of the half. They always found a way to squander them, it was unreal. Under Philbin, you rarely see this team wasting timeouts on offense. Is that because Ryan Tannehill does a good job of getting the team up to the line and set, and is comfortable to audible? Or is that coaching? Both? I don't know. But I like it.

I like him to a point. Good job keeping the team together but hard to get over the fact we lost to the bills at home with 2 weeks to get ready and to the bucs with 10 days to get ready. We'd be 9 ad 4 right now. People on this board change their minds about everything from game to game.

Ozzy rules!!
