Reports are swirling that 49ers are confident that Smith will come around and sign the offer on the table but the more time goes by the probablity increases that Smith sticks it to the 9ers and signs with the Fins... just my 2cents.
 
LOL, give up a chance to make a superbowl run with SF to play with a possible sub 500 team... Ahhh not happening.

The Garrard signing essentially seals the fact that Ireland no believes he can get Smith. The writing is on the wall. He had to get Garrard quickly before Fisher snatched him up.
 
Do you think that offer is still on the table? Jeff Ireland saved us a ton of money by signing Garrard...that's what he'll tell Ross anyway.
 
CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports that 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and free agent Alex Smith are "talking, ironing things out" after San Francisco's failed pursuit of Peyton Manning.
Harbaugh is doing damage control after Smith's "feelings were hurt." The Niners gained a significant leg up in leverage when the Dolphins essentially pulled out of the Smith running by signing David Garrard. The 49ers have Smith backed against a wall to such an extent that they could conceivably drop their contract offer and still land him. While the Niners may not go that far, Smith now seems all but certain to stay in the Bay Area.

The guy never wanted to come to this clownshoes team. Just gave us a visit to make him not look so desperate to remain in San Fran...
 
I find it sadly ironic that the whole Jeff Ireland downfall seemed to begin with him asking Dez Bryant if his mom was a whore... And the rest of the league now uses Ireland like he himself is a cheap whore.

Just when you think that they're going to finish, they pull out of Ireland's mouth and blow their load all over his smarmy face.

The Garrard deal is a one year deal and it was done rather quickly and without any mentioning of him by media. The language in the deal would be very telling. Like, what kind of gaurantees are in it? Probly not much. Dont think for a second that Garrard may also just be a motivation thing.

And nothing in this world says that Alex Smith has to sign with anyone right now. He can simply wait until all else settles and then one team buys in in June/July.
 
We are a joke. Not one player of any relevance will come here and i wouldnt put it past ireland to cut pouncey, long, and reggie.
