Have we gotten caught up in media spin?

I'll preface this with: I feel little, one way or the next, about who we hired at GM because in the end he'll be judged by what he does over the next few years. With that said, in the end can we really tell who will really be right for the job? There's no telling if Ozzie Newsome himself will be able to come here and have the same success; building a franchise is such a dynamic process.

We hear "reports" of someone turning down the job and the sky simultaneously begins to fall. I'll admit, as much as I follow football, I don't know if friggin Lake Dawson will be a good GM. As much as we wrangle over the question of which member of our front office was responsible for player x, can we really answer the same question for the Ravens/Pats/Titans FO? The Bucs have a few talented players, was our new GM responsible for any/all/some?

I just personally have a hard time understanding why everyone is so up in arms over all of this. The media pounces on any reason to bash the Fins, I just hate to see FH being sucked into the vortex, especially over something like "which GM candidate is best", do any of us really know?

Here we go with the media is picking on the Dolphins narrative. This isn't some sort of fabrication people. This job is as close to toxic as possible.

Turned down for interviews by 4 or 5 people. One candidate declined a second interview. TWO outright declined the job. What does that tell you? I hope like hell Hickey works out, but the honest to God truth is that if he does, we got LUCKY

I think you're misunderstanding my underlying question. The media will do what the media does, I'm not on a crusade against the media. My confusion is why is everyone so up in arms about who we've chosen when no one really knows much about any of these candidates; be it first, second,....ninth choice.

I do believe the Dolphins have been a hot button topic that's guaranteed to drive the attention media up. Had this GM search gone down the exact same way at another franchise, you maybe get a back page story in the local paper. I get it. I just don't see the media pushing out a polarizing story being indicative of future success by the one chose for the position.

If the same exact thing was happening to the jets you know you'd be mocking them to no end but since it's happening to your favorite team you aren't taking an objective look at the situation.
