I have been a follower of this franchise since 1970. I have seen the best of the Dolphin's history: the perfect season, the SuperBowl championships and the Marino years. I have also lived through the worse: the last 20 years of mind-numbing mediocrity. During the last couple of seasons I stopped seriously following the team, using the games as background noise during my Sunday afternoon naps. The recent roster moves have been demoralizing beyond comprehension. Why would you trade young franchise players at crucial positions on their rookie contracts? It make no sense at all. It is as if the GM office is being run by kindergardeners.

So I ask you Dolphin fans: have you abandoned all hope that this franchise will ever be great again?

How does trading a LT (for a hefty amount of high picks too) Suddenly have you thinking Miami will never be great again? People have been begging for a complete rebuild for years and it’s finally happening and now people upset Miami won’t win 6-8 games anymore. The tank job has been known for months. With or without Tunsil, this was going to be a long rough season.

I haven't been this excited for the team in such a long time.

Just imagine Tannenbaum was still here lol. We would of given up 2 firsts for Clowney and he would be on a $20 million dollar contract.

Reshad would of gotten another extension.

Sick of that ****.

I’m on the opposite side of the fence, I like what they’re doing. It was a long time coming. The previous FO had been doing half measure crap by plugging in old expensive talent. This one seems to look like they truly want a rebuild and are doing it from the ground up.

They need to get rid of more of the dead weight. I’m looking at you Reshad.

Tunsil is a known commodity at a key position. The draft picks could end up being the second coming of Dion Jordan.

This franchise has been hamster on a wheel for as long as I've been a fan (30+). Talent has come and gone in bits and pieces so I welcome any change that could upset the spinning of the wheel. Losing stinks but to do it in the 'usual' way is beyond stupidity. I don't love all the moves but I understand them. Still a fan.

Quite the contrary. First time it's exciting to be a Dolphins fan in years.

Ironic. I've been a fan since 71, have also lived thru the glory years & the past 20+ years in the wilderness. The recent moves give me the most hope I've had for this team since Don Shula was at the helm. What young franchise player have they traded besides Tunsil? Houston gave them a higher return for any player that I can recall except for maybe Herschel Walker.

I’m very hopeful. Also pretty excited to see what the future entails. Seeing good stuff from Flores would be helpful. As well as the rookies. Not sold on Grier yet. But the dumping of the contracts that hand cuff us and purging this roster is a good start.

This year is about evaluating the young players on this team and Flores, not about W’s

Well, I'm looking at it long-term. It's most likely going to be a painful season to watch. Maybe for a couple of years as well. It's like taking a house down to the studs and rebuilding. It's going to take time. For this season, I think I'm most interested to see the effort, a change in physicality, a more disciplined team. I'm also watching how Rosen plays and how some of the young players develop. I'm excited about the group of receivers and the new defensive scheme.

While I don't agree with all the moves necessarily, I give the front office credit for stockpiling draft picks. If the team makes the right decision on a quarterback (Tua seems most likely), things will start falling in place. You simply can't win big in this league without a top 10 caliber quarterback and setting the team up to get one has to be the priority.

Im excited for the future, and as with every recent season, I hold out hope that we could surprise some people and win more games than expected. I'm excited to see Fitz, maybe he will be the world beater version for a few games before the ball drops - or maybe the ball never drops!?!?!? Unlikely I know.

I'll watch the games on sunday until they are no longer worth watching, move on with the day, and do it again next week.
