It kills me how people fail to see how hard it is for a QB to operate without a running game. Play action and read plays do not have an effect without a run game. These are two of Tua’s strengths, and having a run game will allow Tua to actually be able to develop as a QB.

The other team can’t just blitz him wide open now, because we have backs who can catch and gain respectable yardage on running plays.

What we saw yesterday was pure domination in all phases offensively. Their gameplan was to take Waddle and Hill out of the game, and they accomplished it about as well as you possibly can, and we still whipped them offensively.

I’ve never been so excited to face a top defense. I’d really like to know if we’re just beating on crap defenses or if we’re really this good.

I know the Pats and Bills have top 10 defenses but this team is so different than it was in the beginning of the season especially now that Edmonds is gone and Wilson is in.

Yes we are!!! We are rolling on all cylinders now!! Looking forward to last stretch of hard games to see how we do as well.

We're currently at 4.2 Yards Per Carry. If we can can get that closer to five, this offense will be borderline unstoppable.
We were at 6.09 yards per carry yesterday... We're at 4.95 yards per carry since Jeff Wilson came on board! I think we're already there...

I can't wait for that game at Buffalo.
I want to see the difference now vs The Old Days, and how we stack up, in their house.
I think the key will be to keep the game vs Buffalo within one score at all times; when they get ahead, you're screwed(usually). But if they are trailing or tied, that puts pressure on Allen and that's when he makes mistakes.

We slowly getting to the next level. Our passrush is improving and the running game is far better now. This makes everybody better. This year you got to work your butt off and play lights out if you want to beat the dolphins. 7 to 8
years ago we were the laughing stock of the nfl. But not any more.

Cleveland manhandled the bengals. We destroyed cleveland.

Id like to have a shot at the bengals in the playoffs and see where stand with a healthy tua.

Maybe. I haven't watched the all-22 yet, but just going off the numbers, Cleveland was a horrid run defense coming into this game. I don't know if we're at the point where we can run effectively on good run defenses. That's what I'm hoping for. But I do expect we're at least at the point where we can run on poor run defenses and that's a huge upgrade over the last several seasons.

I also think that there were a couple of factors. You pointed out the addition of Wilson, that's obviously huge. I've heard that the outside zone is a hard scheme for RBs to pick up, that it can take as long as 2 years. I like Chase, but, at least in short time he was here, he couldn't pick it up. I think the difficulty of picking up the scheme should be a big consideration when everybody starts talking about which FA or draft RB they want to pursue next off-season.

Second, it takes a while for any team to learn a new offensive scheme. Arians always said it took at least half a year. All the people criticizing McD's run game and individual lineman where generally being unreasonable in their expectations. The hope all along was that we'd get that run game and offense in general going by the second half of the season.

I posted this in the GameDay thread. Just say Miami and run, instead of happy and putt.

We beat them, while they contained our top receivers because Tua is not just succeeding because of great weapons at receiver, he's the real deal...You take away my biggest weapons, no problem, I will beat you with my #3, #4 receivers, our RBs, and the TE.

Oh and news flash, the RBs can now run for chunk yardage...So there's also that to think about.

I understand the line of thinking, and Tua is executing at an extremely high level.

Having said that, I give a lot of the credit for being able to attack in so many ways effectively to McD, his scheme, play calling, etc. He has put Tua, and others, in great positions to succeed.

It takes a symbiotic pairing of good HC/Coordinator, and QB to have the kind of offensive success we are now enjoying.

It took a little time to come to fruition and who knows, the league may catch up at some point (I suspect not any time soon). All I'm trying to say is that McD deserves credit for design/scheme/philosophy in beating teams. Tua deserves credit for executing at, currently, the highest level of any QB.
