From rotoworld and good news if it happens

William Hayes - DL - Dolphins
Dolphins coach Adam Gase said DE William Hayes (hamstring) "seems promising" for the regular season opener.

Hayes underwent hamstring surgery at the end of last year and has been dealing with a "severe hamstring" injury throughout camp. Gase said he's been progressing well, but any preseason activity seems out of the question. Hayes earned PFF's No. 5 run-stopping grade among 4-3 defensive ends on limited playing time last season, so the Fins have their fingers crossed he's ready to roll in Week 1.

Ironic how one of the few positions were deep at, and this one injury to a backup is still a devestating blow if serious. As deep as we are at DE, they are all pure pash rushers. Hayes is the only great run defender at the position, and we really can't afford to lose much in that department.

We aren’t deep at anything at the poa

Doesn’t matter what position in the front 7 it is

Well we have a 2 deep mike that’s good at the poa but a card board cut out basically for everything else

In all honesty his ability to hop inside and still give good run stopping ability is the reason im not so worried about DT.. his injury does scare me

The problem is at this age and coming back from that injury and now hurt again, I'm not counting on him. If he plays then great but the team should have never counted on him knowing the history there. It sucks cause he's a good player "when healthy"

I hope Langford can steal a starting spot because that means he is back to form before the injury. Hard not to root for this guy after what he's been through. 7 sacks in 2015 and then injured in 2015 & 16. The loss of his child may have been very motivating for him to work hard to get back. I don't mean to sound like football is more important but I would like to see him have a good year.

We always seem to pick up these very good, but often injured players like him and Albert. It is what happens when your drafts have sucked for most of the century.

Who says he's just a backup? William Hayes sets the edge to stop the run.
Need to understand that certain players are important for certain situations. If opponents fall behind moving the chains and are forced to throw on 3rd down it is setting things up for Wake, Quinn and Harris a make a big play - possibly get the sack. Also setting things up for DBs like Xavien Howard, Minkah Fitz and Reshad Jones for a possible interception.
Please don't dismiss William Hayes as just a backup, he is a key Defensive player and we need him.
