Thought this was the best take I have heard yet on the QB competition and why Frerotte has been named the starter.

Fullback Heath Evans said that Frerotte exudes confidence in the huddle on many levels.

"It's almost an unfair comparison [for Feeley] because Gus knows this offense. ... I'd hate to be thrown in a new offense and expect to learn it in one offseason and short two-a-days," Evans said.

"Gus is confident out there. He knows the system inside and out, and he's great with managing even the young receivers and running backs.

"We need A.J., Sage [Rosenfels] and Brock [Berlin], but Gus is the man right now.

Evans has played with veteran quarterbacks before.

"He's the old man. I compare him a lot to Trent Dilfer in my first couple of years at Seattle," Evans said. "We had [Matt] Hasselbeck, who was turning into a phenomenal quarterback ... but when Trent got into the huddle it was kind of like, `All right, the man is here.'

"Gus brings that same presence, even to just the respect level because he's been there, done that. I think A.J.'s going to be a phenomenal quarterback in this league. It just takes time."

So, in other words, AJ got screwed. Like Griese got screwed over Fiedler?

Look, AJ knew the deal.. He should've stepped up his game but he didn't and he's paying for it. Maybe next hear he'll get his shot. After he fully understands the Linehan scheme of things.

That was nice of him to toss a bone to Feeley.

A Dolphin Player said he thinks AJ will be a "phenomenal QB"? OMGWTF?

Well, that certainly be the best scenario for us, but even I am not so certain.. But I suppose an offensive teamate knows better than I.. Unless he is just giving soundbytes to the media to keep morale up.. Still, one could do that without bringing the term "phenomenol" into the conversation.

If you ask me, the two of them were basically even starting off. AJ knew the returning players and his surroundings in Miami. Gus knew the offense.

It could be a Hasselbeck situation.. He was started his second season in Seattle as backup to Trent Dilfer after stinking up the joint in year one.. Ten in week 6 or so, Hasselbeck took over again and never looked back.

Yeah it was pretty cool. Actually its an interesting comparison both ways. Frerotte compared to Dilfer and Feeley compared to Hasselback. Hasselbeck took forever to become a quality starter.

what is he going to say, "Feeley sux"?

my god, you will never let this thing go....

hopefully once Gus is the starter for good, you wont continue to make these type of threads.....

AJ's salary next year is 3.5 mil, with a cap # of 4.1 mil.....it will save money next year to cut him

I'm chilled, he made his point weeks ago....he likes Feeley and doesnt want to see Gus start....thats fine, thats his opinion

but on the same token, Chambers had nothing but praise for Frerotte, yet nobody made a thread about that
