These are the position groups that seem to have some difficult decisions to be made for various reasons.
How many would you keep at each position group and who would they be?
Feel free to start the season with certain players on PUP to eventually be added later to the roster.
I am just curious as to what the consensus is on here.

A curveball could be Achane. Could he be two positions? A RB and a WR?
Ahmad is released. Brooks and Wilson for the last spot.
WR Hill, Waddle, OBJ, Cracraft, and put Achane here to keep Wilson?

I wish Robert Hayes had done better and surprised us. We could have used that.

If some of these young DBs are the real deal it might mitigate the need to draft a corner high in next year’s draft despite having two starting cornerbacks who are well along in their careers.

I will assume OBJ and Wynn start the year on PUP.

I’m hoping - praying - that Brewer is good to go.

RBs
- Mostert
- Achane
- Wright
- Wilson

Brooks to PS. Maybe he’s poached but I feel nearly every team has bubble RBs they rate highly. Think he’ll be safe and ultimately play a fair amount during the season.

WRs
- Tyreek
- Waddle
- Cracraft (assuming injury yesterday is minor)
- Berrios (the current guy everyone seems down on … he doesn’t drop punts and the team values that)
- Malik Washington

EZ to PS. Same reasoning as Brooks.

Carrying 5 to start because I want an additional roster spot elsewhere.

OL
- Armstead
- Paul
- Jackson
- Lamm
- Eich
- Jones
- Brewer
- Driscoll
- Meyer (Brewer insurance)

DBs

Hardest group to predict. Starting with 5 WRs (and 2 QBs) lets me pick 12

Corners
- Ramsey
- Fuller
- Kohou
- Cam Smith (assuming not injured)
- Bonner
- Neal

Utility
- Needham

Safety
- Holland
- Poyer
- Maye
- McMorris
- Campbell

Hope to be able to stash at least two of the UDFAs on the PS. That feels like a gamble so I could see Maye not making the 53.

Expect this to be pretty wrong!

Very tough decisions coming up

WR - Hill, Waddle, OBJ, Cracraft and Washington.

RB - Mostert, Achane, Wright and Brooks.

DB's - Fuller, Ramsey, Kohou, Needham, Smith, Bonner at CB
At safety - Holland, Poyer, Maye, Campbell and McMorris

Oline - Armstead, Jones, Brewer, Eichenberg, Jackson, Driscoll, Lamm, Paul and Cotton.

Hayes is likely a PS option. Don't see any way he could have made the 53 man roster with Armstead, Jackson, Paul and Lamm as locks for spots. Hayes would have had to vastly out play Lamm, who the staff loves as a vet reserve.

WR - Hill, Waddle, OBJ, Cracraft and Washington.

RB - Mostert, Achane, Wright and Brooks.

DB's - Fuller, Ramsey, Kohou, Needham, Smith, Bonner at CB
At safety - Holland, Poyer, Maye, Campbell and McMorris

Oline - Armstead, Jones, Brewer, Eichenberg, Jackson, Driscoll, Lamm, Paul and Cotton.
It seems like the team is determined to also keep Neal as a cb/special teams specialist.

RB - Mostert, Achane, Wright, Wilson, Ingold (FB)

Fairly standard group. Wilson makes the cut over Brooks because of how liked he is by the offensive coaching staff.

WR - Hill, Waddle, OBJ, Cracraft, Washington, Ezukanma

Barring another injury I have Eazy E making the team over Berrios at the moment.

LT - Armstead, Paul
LG - Robert Jones, Driscoll
C - Brewer, Meyer(?)
RG - Eichenberg, Cotton
RT - Jackson, Lamm

I still believe OL depth will be addressed on the waiver wire. If Wynn returns, he slides in to LG and Robert Jones goes to RG.

CB - Ramsey, Fuller, Bonner, Smith, Neal (ST)
Nickel - Kohou, Needham
FS - Holland, Campbell/McMorris
SS - Poyer, Maye

I could see both Campbell and McMorris making the team. It's hard because there's a lot of admirable performances so far by the secondary this preseason.

Is Jeff Wilson worth losing one of those UDFA DB’s or McMorris over?r
I'm asking myself that as far as not keeping a 3rd qb of a 5th interior dlineman. I also would like to find a way to keep 6 wrs and keep Ezukanma. I need the league to reduce the number of practice squad spots but increase the roster from 53 men to 60. This going to be one of the hardest cut down dates I can recall. There are going to be several players exposed to the practice squad that I wish the team could just keep.

here is what barry jackson has to say, some interesting ones in here: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...-preseason-game/ar-AA1p0iA3?ocid=BingNewsSerp

It isn't only up to the league. The number of roster spots is agreed to by the CBA. The league can't just change it on a whim.

Not sure the players want to split the salary cap pie, and retirement bennies for that matter, between more players.

WR - Hill, Waddle, OBJ, Cracraft and Washington.

dolfan, I'm pretty much impressed or scared or both because I actually see it the same as you.
The only wild card is maybe a 6th WR and I would lean towards Ezukanma over Berrios just because he offers a taller option than the others that we have on the roster.
And I do think Neal may make the roster due to his Special Teams contribution.
But seriously, I am in total lockstep with every other player selection for the respective groups!

I'm not looking forward to cut down day. Going to be several players that I don't want to expose to the practice squad. Players like Brooks, Ezukanma, Duck, McMorris, Maitre and Johnson.

At this point I might be ok with starting OBJ on IR and keeping Hill, Waddle, Cracraft, Washington and Ez on the 53 man roster.

Would need to trade or cut Wilson to find a spot for Brooks and maybe trade Needham to find a spot for one of Duck, Maitre, Johnson or McMorris.
