I don't understand all the "His confidence is shattered" excuses for Beck. The guy played a BYU, won games in the waning seconds and led a team for 4 years. These quarterbacks have been in leadership roles & playing football since they were like 7 years old. NOW all of a sudden their confidence is "SHOT" & they are bowls full of Jello!? I don't get it.

Are QB's THAT frail mentally.

1. Get ball from center
2. Hand it to a RB
3. Throw it to an eligible team mate.

Pretty simple actually. IMO nothing to be sitting & sucking your thumb about.

Bottom-Line: Either you can play at an NFL level - or NOT.

I understand that it is better to sit for a while and learn the NFL ropes a bit before being given the reins. I also understand that the NFL is very different than college in terms of approach, talent, etc.

What I have issue with is the "His confidence is shattered beyond all repair" Most of these guys have trained their whole lives for this opportunity. I just have a hard time with the whole frail thing.

Your thoughts

I think people have come to the conclusion that Beck was rattled by what happened last year and the first week to TC this year. I dont think any of us know what is going on because we only saw him play 2 series in preseason. Personally I think they prefer Henne because of the age difference. To me Henne wasnt great in preseason. He played OK for a rookie, but so did Beck last year. We still have no idea if Henne or Beck will be any good. As soon as Cam was fired Beck was in a no win situation. He had to either win the starting job or his days on the Fins were numbered. Im sure he is praying to get traded. He would be a better fit in a west coast system and a fresh start wouldnt hurt.

All our QB's suck and we need to bring in a capable starter soon or we can kiss our playoff hopes goodbye!

Going to the playoffs is out of the question whether we kiss it or not....

1. I definitely prefer Henne over Beck because of the age difference. unless Beck was FAR superior to the other rookie QB's I wouldn't have drafted him because of the age. I actually was more interested in Flacco. More raw but tremendously physically gifted.

2. I wasn't impressed by Beck last preseason. I didn't see anything special in him. I do see some great talent in Henne though.

3. Beck did have to win the starting job. He had to beat out a rookie QB in Henne and a jobber in McCown. He couldn't beat either and ended up 3rd string. Maybe Beck will blossom into a solid QB but I don't see him as ever being better than a backup. He's had a couple chances to shine and he hasn't.
I personally think it's a waste that our 2nd round pick from 2007 is a 3rd string QB. I'd much rather have Henne starting with Beck backing him up next year or Beck traded to another team so we can recoup some value for him. Honestly though I wish we had never drafted him.

Every QB is different just like most people are and have different strenghts and weaknesses that shine through in different situations. I understand what you are saying but what others are saying is Beck has tools, the arm, mind and work eithic but he choked. Some guys just do that in sports all the time and the choice is simple at that point they rebuild their confidence and come back or pack their bags and go home.
