Henne should start this next game

Just wanted to get others opinion on this. Do you guys think that it would be beneficial for Henne to get a start with the starters to see where he is at. IMO Henne will get valuable experience getting a start with the first team. He can get a feel of the starting recievers and RBs and he will get an opportunity to face a first team defense and Carolina would be a nice test. I think Sparano could explain that without having everyone think he is ready to replace Penny so there is no mixed emotions within the locker room starting a team seperation. The second preseason game is perfect to get this accomplished.

What you guys think?

Well I think Henne will be fine how he is. Its not like he was playing against 3rd, 4th and cuts in the 4th quarter
 
I would not be suprises if Henne starts the 3rd and 4th games. I dont know about Sat. game. Penny did not look too sharp out there.
 
I don't think he starts because we will want to give penny more time with the first string offense. Lets face it he is the starting qb for the dolphins and it is more benificial to give him his reps with the first team O against the First team D...

Until Henne proves otherwise, he is the #2QB and should get the appropriate number of reps.
 
Henne needs to get some time w/ the starting unit against a 1st team D in order for the CS to better gauge his development. I don't the think it will happen this week thought, maybe in game 3. Starters play very little if any in game 4, it's a freaking joke.
 
I dont think thats a bad idea. I mean, the chances of Chad Pennington going two season un-injured are pretty slim, given that he has never gone two consecutive season injury free. I think if the coaches were going to give Henne a start it would be this week, as the third week of pre-season is when we usually see the starters for longer and you would want Pennington out there for that game.

Cant see it happening, but not a bad idea given Penningtons injury past.
 
I'm not opposed to letting Henne play the first quarter, Penne the second and White the whole 2nd half for ONE game. It'll allow Henne to work against a 1st team D, and even better let Pennington establish a relationship and chemistry with the rookie wideouts like Hartline and Turner.

He needs first team reps to prove hes ready. Also a great way to judge on were he is and how far he needs to go. I like the idea. I dont have any doubt that Penny is our starter, but this will give Henne some good time with the starters. One hook up I would love to see right now is Henne to Ginn... I know I know we dont win by throwing the long ball, it is just a sick fantasy lol.
 
i don't think we're going to change much. Pennington will play the 1st qtr, Henne the 2nd and 3rd and White the 4th IMO. if Henne starts at any point, i'd say it's pre-season week 4.

The 3rd preseason game is the dress rehersal, I seriously doubt Henne starts. The 4th game he should start as Penney shouldn't play much if at all.

exactly and thats how it should be, Penny is the starter he'll get all the 1st team snaps and thats how it's always been and will always be...

i could see Henne starting the 4th game. teams hardly play their starters anymore. week 3 is the dress rehearsal for the opener.
 
Henne will start the 4th preseason game and there is a good chance he will start with the starting Oline (even tho that 4th game is usually reserved for backups).

Right now we need Chad P to get his reps also, shake off some of that offseason rust before the Atlanta game.

Expect Henne in the 2nd quarter on Saturday, 3rd quarter against Tampa and to start against the Saints.
