Each day at 7 a.m. sharp, 14-year-old Chad Henne showed up ready to make himself into a better quarterback.

For 45 minutes, while classmates scrambled to finish their homework, Henne fine-tuned his footwork and throwing mechanics. While older teammates roamed the halls in their letter jackets, the freshman, who would lead them on the field, finished up wind sprints.

If Parcells, the team's head of football operations, was going to use his first Dolphins' draft to solve the franchise's long-standing quarterback woes, Henne fit the profile.

"He's perfect for Bill Parcells," Cantafio said. "He's a no BS guy. He's a tough guy who'll work his buns off.

"Once he gets there, he'll have his nose in the playbook."

good work wthic doesnt mean he will be a solutuion for quaterback it only meanss that he will work hard to try and be good

I'm a little worried about his long release.

I hate to point out the obvious, but John Beck's work ethic has been as equally touted and impressive. So, I mean, now we got two devoted QB's, and something tells me McCown works just as hard.

It's going to come down to who can move the offense, not who was missing homework at 14 to work on mechanics.

I picture them out on the field, 12:00 midnight, practice ended eight hours ago. They're each throwing balls across the field. They look at each other, then go back to throwing footballs.

It's an Under Armor commercial.

This is certainly true. Now if Beck fans will just admit this about him, then we will be getting somewhere.

I'm a little worried about his long release.

So am I.

Time will tell if it will be an issue come game day but I would rather he get the ball out a little quicker.

If it is an issue, I expect the coaches to get it fixed ASAP.

it's too bad we can't use a cloning machine to combine the best of Henne and Beck. We'd have an extra-intelligent, accurate, quick releasing tough SOB for a QB!

or we could just have one qb that has all that, john beck and not have to worry about cloning

beck-athletic, quick relese, good arm strength, extreamly acurate, good size
henne-low, slow relese, great arm strngth, not accurate, better size.

im taking the first

becks release slows WAAAAAY down, especially when you've demostrated in more than one game that you can't even get the center exchange down pat.

beck just looked horrible last year, just friggin ghastly.

one can only pray to God that he improves this year, because he can't get much worse.

as far as henne goes, it remains to be seen what he can deliver.

I dont' see beck having much of a tenure here though, unless he's content to be the eventual backup to somebody else.
